I have no idea. Something to do though.

Got all the parts for about 100 quid (admittedly VERY entry level shimano hydro brakes)

A frame designed for a drop bar will be a bit short in reach when fitted with a flat bar -not saying it won’t work but you might need a long stem to avoid feeling very sat up straight

I mean, do it if you want. Probably best to work out why you have pain though - in my experience drop bars offer far better / more hand positions than flats

I just want to do it really.

Yeah I’m going to try the current stem first and see how it feels.

are you replacing your derailleurs as well as the shifters, aye? don’t think the road / mtb stuff is interchangeable (depending on what model they are etc)

No keeping sram 1x11. Bought a flat bar shifter designed for the groupset and front and back brakes. It’s going to be fine.

Part of this is Im really sick of mechanical disc brakes but to get compatible drop bar hydro brakes was going to be 300 quid ish.

ah okay. i think sram has a lot more cross-compatibility, which makes it a bit easier.

yeah, it’s mad how cheap decent mtb hydraulic brakes are compared to road ones. can only be artificially high pricing.

My dad sent me this in the post:

Am I missing something, or is this just a disgusting waste of plastic? Never had any trouble getting my chain back on (and tbh it has only ever come off during a maintenence situation by accident), sure it is messy - but grease as an acceptable part of having a bike, right?
So…

  • Useful thing to carry on your bike
  • Solution to a problem which never existed

(basically my dad will occasionally post me useless shit and it is weirdly stressful as I have to deal with unexpected rubbish I have no clue what to do with)

Your mum gives you the best presents

You may as well carry a fork or twig? :man_shrugging:

A twig would be good, that would be more sustainable compared to this waste of plastic.

Also he bought it through amazon who I won’t personally use anymore and he knows that, so doubly annoying.

Or if you really don’t want some oil on your fingers just use a tyre lever?

try wd40 etc rather than oil?

did you put them on? are they loctited on?

could try heating it i guess? reckon if brute force isn’t doing it you’re probs gonna have to cut it off anyways

(or try a bike shop, they might know some secret voodoo)

Ooo… I might have to swing by this on the way in, if I can find somewhere to lock my bike up nearby.
