hopefully they’ll have somewhere inside to leave them? maybe? idk.
hi guys casual weekend rider here, I ride a bike very similar to the one below. I’m wondering if it’s a good idea to slap a battery on it and ride it to work most days (~1hr) so I can save on train tickets. I’ve done modest research and it looks like it won’t need the most powerful battery for a daily commute (SW London to Surrey, minor hills) but I’m still not sure which style of e-bike kit I’d need. I think it’s called a mid-drive kit? How much am I looking to spend? I know mountain bikes aren’t ideal for the roads but I don’t really want to own 2 bikes.
Cheers
The street is really quiet, so maybe they’ll put out a few temporary racks.
just watched this episode of Dragon’s Den the other night, our flatmates were split 50/50 on whether it’s a good idea or not
If you want to ride for an hour on the road, you’d be better off buying a new bike rather than getting some sort of kit to motor yourself on a full sus thing, but that’s just my humble opinion
think it varies quite a lot shop to shop. at a total guess, ballpark of £50 ? (if they’re replacing all the spokes / nipples)
if it’s just the one spoke that’s knackered you could probably have a go at doing it yourself
see lots of deliveroo / uber eats couriers using aftermarket e-bike mods (at least round here anyway) so guess it’s not that difficult to do
know absolutely nothing about them though
some bargains over at evans at the moment guys, loads of morvelo jerseys for £22
I mainly want the ride to be easy, as arriving at work sweaty isn’t ideal but I appreciate what you’re saying
hard to resist
yeah but

just bought some new winter gloves. they’re great but i have suddenly got a bit sad about winter riding
it can be winter next month, I’ve got a few more rides I want to do first…
got some bargs at the milltag sale - they had coolnago caps and socks for a fiver but i am not cool enough to pull them off. mostly v pleased with the £40 rain jacket i nabbed - a much nicer fit than my rapha one which has recently decided to let water in
Before.
After.
I like it don’t @ me.
Left too much cable up front. Will rectify.
Glove chat!
Please recommend me some gloves I can wear autumn /spring. Looking for warm in single figures Celsius as I commute in autumn setting off at 630 or so. Don’t want to break the bank but prepared to pay for quality. What have you had good experiences with?
These would fit the bill Ive had a couple of pair and worn to destruction. I paid 40ish but wiggle have got them for 19.99
