Zwift are launching a series of workouts next month that aim to cram “an entire Classics race experience pressed into a single hour on Zwift”. Signed up to the first session being led by Philippe Gilbert. No precise details of the workouts yet, but the first men’s one looks cruel:

Ok, how do you turn off ‘Americans chatting to each other’ on zwift?

Dunno. Could definitely be useful at times! A couple of weeks ago loads of randoms were chatting about coronavirus, and eventually a bubble popped up saying “I CAME ON ZWIFT TO GET AWAY FROM THE NEWS, STOP RUINING MY RIDE!” That earned the irate cyclist a mini pile-on

Hello. Please help. What size bike do I need l? I’m a 6 foot 1 person. Not sure how long my arms or legs are. Does that make a difference?

Every time I’ve rode a bike as an adult, even on flat it’s been painful and tiring and kills my bum. I think maybe I need a certain size bike?

Hello.

Depends what sort of bicycle you’re looking at - there should be a size chart associated with whatever you’re looking at. You’re probably looking at a large(ish) frame, ~58cm and upwards maybe. Unfortunately it is best to go and test a bike before you buy it, but that’s probably not possible in CoronaTimes.

A painful arse can be helped by a decent saddle and padded shorts.

yeah. but unless you have particularly long or short arms compared to everyone else your height, you’re probably alright going with the frame size the manufacturer recommends.

Just had a look at RGT cycling…it looks interesting! Might give that a bash too

hello I am a 6 foot 2 person who rides a 58cm cannondale (which size quite big) (“proper” bike) and also a 61cm steel frame (fixie). Corroborate what Niki says sizewise, something close to 60cm, but as she says you’ll get by far the best results by trying em out

In general it is easier/less stressful to squeeze your body onto a smaller bike than to stretch it out on a larger frame

my felt is a 47cm frame :joy::joy::joy::joy::joy:

(fits beautifully)

ooh they’ve got a cap formentor route

will need to give this a shot. apparently it’s free the now.

disproportionately annoyed you need a power meter or smart trainer for this

oh do you? quite like that idea :grimacing:

would stop folk on zwift blasting past you at 20w/kg

oh man, just looked up a wee video of someone riding it. it looks so accurate

now i miss mallorca :sob:

it’s fine obv, i’m just jealous i can’t have a go

That looks interesting, thanks! If it’s compatible with my Wattbike I’ll give it a go. Like the idea of Mont Ventoux in particular, and being able to plug in .gpx files of your favourite roads to then ride them virtually. My Wattbike’s native app has lots big climb simulations in it, but there’s no visual data to go with the gradient profiles so I haven’t bothered trying any yet. Maybe I’ll give Buttertubs or Box Hill a shot today; they’re short enough that it shouldn’t feel too boring.

Elsewhere, I’ve just got Training & Racing With A Power Meter 'cos I’m a sad bastard. One of the first things it mentions is working out your ‘cycling phenotype’, i.e. are you an all-rounder, sprinter, climber/TT rider or pursuiter.

Plugged my numbers from Strava into the most appropriate graph. Need to do some work on my sprinting then :see_no_evil:

i am a sprinter (apparently) not because i am good at sprinting but because i am even worse at everything else

the test you do on sufferfest tells you what sort of rider you are. i’m a time trialist :woman_shrugging:
