that’s really useful thanks!

I have some Park Tools stuff and it’s generally the best but I just couldn’t fork out for their set of allen/torx keys.

They ones I got aren’t obviously as good but do my most of the time. No ball ends is downside so you struggle if you can’t get lines up with the nut sometimes.

What I do recommend is a pedal wrench. If a pedal is stuck, and it often is, you need something long and solid to get leverage. I spent an hour last weekend failing to remove a pedal using a combination of a standard spanner and some mole grips to try and extend it. I ended up rounding off the end of the spanner when it slipped. I then suddenly remembered we actually had a peal wrench (my wife recently won a travel bike tool kit which I’d forgot about). Got it out, removed the pedal in seconds.

And no I hadn’t just spent an hour tightening the pedal by mistake…

Cleaning all the bikes. And also a pair of bibshorts after a blowout at ~90km/h.

I have a good long Pedros pedal spanner that does the job - hardly ever get to use it cos all my pedals seem to be hex wrench only - if that’s not working an old mtb handlebar over the end of the wrench for extra physics power

I’ve got an old T-bar from one of my kids first scooters that I use to add leverage but it didn’t fit and I didn’t have anything that would go over my spanner.

finished!!

too hot if anything. I consumed 4 cans / bottles of fizzy drinks on my ride yesterday (2x coke, 1x mango rubicon, 1x lucozade) plus about 8 bottles of water. it was the first time ever that I had a shower as soon as I got in rather than wallowing in my sweat and filth looking at Strava for an hour.

Mum text me earlier asking if I went out on a bike if I could see if a particular place was open. Told her it was too hot.

Reply: “Last week was too wet, this week too hot, week before too windy.”

Non-bikewankers just don’t get it do they?
