Hello!

Bought loads of stuff from them but not a full bike.

Sure it will be fine. Probably get some haribo too :yum:

have never bought one but imagine it’s like buying a bike online anywhere. probably pretty good value but you might have to do a final bit of tinkering to get it set up properly

this is pure speculation

Have look at these in your price range. Probably a better spec and solid/good bikes, think it’d be the 520

Triban! Triban! Triban!

Not going to get a better bike for that sort of money.

I have bought a bike from wiggle (in house brand gravel bike ~700 quid), and this is correct.

Another vote for davidoff cool Triban RC520

I own one. Did all my riding on it last year, from fastish 50km evening rides to 1200km Paris-Brest-Paris. Not bad for a £730 bike, eh?

Are you able to buy it through Cycle to Work?

That would save you a fair bit, but might restrict where you can buy it from.

christ. just had a look on wiggle. not much choice for under a grand is there? shitty.

think it’s the same everywhere.

bikes are sold out.

This innit. Not wiggle’s fault

actually, there’s this. 10% off with a British Cycling discount makes it look a great offer…

Oh, that’s annoying.

I’ll leave the bike recommendations to others, but my tip would be to make sure you factor in the cost of accessories:

Cycle helmet
Front and rear lights
Locks (decent D-lock and chain lock if you’re locking it up on the street)
Multi-tool
Pump
Tyre levers
Spare inner tubes
Saddlebag
Bottle cage and bottle
Perhaps mudguards, if you’re going to be riding in the wet

If you’re thinking of using it to commute, have a think about how you’re going to carry your work stuff - I use a pannier bag and rack as I find a rucksack too sweaty (and we don’t have showers at work), so I needed a bike with eyelets for mounting it. My bike also has eyelets for mudguards as well.

If you’re going on long rides, think about getting some cycle shorts - bib shorts are the best as they won’t slip down.

or this if you don’t ever wanna do some gravel:

think these might actually be better value than decathers tbh

I was going to get a Boardman last year, but they were temporarily unavailable at the time I was buying. Seem like great value bikes for the price.

Did a big fail on the Ventoux stage of l’Etape du Tour this evening. Went too hard too early, bonked massively before reaching Chalet Reynard and went backwards very fast. Worst virtual five miles of my life :frowning:

Imagine if you were doing it in real life :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I bonked spectacularly on the Col du Solour after climbing the hautacam. Got 500m from the top and couldn’t go any further. It’s a bastard when it happens
