If you ever do let me know and I can send you a copy of an ebook I have

It’s hilariously presumptuous regarding the “handyness” and tool ownership of the typical reader (suggests you build your own wheel jig and nipple driver, just assumed people have access to a full workshop of wood and metalworking tools). Like a wheel building book by Ron Swanson. But it is decent

I had a little top tube bag attached to my bike yesterday and found it pretty useful and there’s nothing you can do about it!!!

I used to go on rides with my commute setup, which was a topeak seat post mount bar plus bag. But now I’m not commuting I’ve realised to dont need all that bag room and reverted to just a top tube bag.

I can still take absolutely everything I need on a long ride and it somehow fits in there, with a couple of bigger bits in my pockets.

does this mean two front and two back…?

I was double panniering the fuck out of it last week.

Part of the club. Picked this up on eBay yesterday for £80. Seemed a good deal from my research. Didn’t want anything too fancy/expensive. Lovely matt finish, really light and the guy just serviced + fitted a fair few new bits to it. First bike in probably 20 years…

If it’s even in half decent condition that seems like a bargain, esp in current climate :+1:

have fun on it man
my first commuter I got when I moved to manchester was a similar Raleigh that served me well

Wales, then. What a whole load of ups and downs, literally and metaphorically.

Fucking hell it’s hilly isn’t it. Knocked off some of Simon Warren’s top 100 / Wales climbs.

The Bwltch, Rhigos, Llangynidr Mountain, Machynlleth Mountain, the Black Mountain, Stwlan Dam (!). All fantastic roads, even in the wind and rain. That photo was taken near Colwyn Bay yesterday as we were leaving, the best weather of the trip

However, I just struggled the entire time. Mentally and physically. Made me realise again that I am just a terrible climber. I guess it didn’t help with a loaded bike, even if we were travelling extremely lightly.

Just fucking amazing roads though, and no cars:

My bike needs attention now though. The front brake needs a bleed. Should I try it myself (I have a kit) or bung it in a shop?

Shimano? Yes
Sram? Canal (/shop)

you’re as well trying it yourself

if you fuck it up then you were taking it to a shop anyway, so nothing lost

yeah, Shimano Ultegra.

^makes it look easier than other things I’ve done to a bike?

You’ll be fine! Really satisfying to do it tbh. As with everything we all say to each other, find a video and copy along, it’ll be reet!
