Niki the first question I asked my dad when I found out I was coming back to the Isle of Man was ‘can you find me a bike?’

He did too :eyes:

Despite having driven round it for Nats a couple of years ago, and ridden a fair chunk of it, in my head the IoM is the size of a small village so OBVIOUSLY everyone knows everyone else

I mean I’ve just proved your point…

:joy: small world eh!

Have to self isolate for two weeks but we are allowed to take an hours exercise a day.

Henlo :bike:

had a daft incident yesterday. turned uphill, shifted down at the front and down at the back, but at the back the chain just went all the way into the spokes? i say spokes, but i have a spacer on my cassette so it just got stuck, no damage to wheel or anything. so i was spinning away, panicing, unable to unclip. did a slow motion fall. tried to fix it using limit screws but every time the chain would just fall off into the direction of the spokes. eyed the rear mech hanger which looked proper wonky. luckily i carry a spare with me, was able to fit it and continue riding with just the loss of my lowest gear. fixed it today with a combo of micro adjusting the di2, b screw and low limit and its shifting perfectly again, but i am weird paranoid it’s suddenly going to jump into the spokes again :unamused:

Sudden big changes of torque like that tend to make Di2 have brainfarts, and I’d imagine 99% of them come from “oh fuck a hill” double shift moments

Gone full bikewanker. Got given a bike from my uncle which is a bit of a shitheap.

I’ve already bought a new saddle, as well as brake pads, and I’ve spent the afternoon removing the front and rear mudguards, dynamo, carrier and kickstand.

Trying to work out how far is too far to commute daily here.

Last couple of weeks was doing 14 miles each way most days. Much quicker, much cheaper, than public transport… Couldn’t be arsed doing/cooking anything when I got home though.

Not sure what I’ll do when I start back up in January…

You’ll soon get used to the distance imho

Maybe - 30 miles (50km) a day is a fair whack though. I used to do it and it was hard work and often made me tired in the evenings. Mine did include about 2,000ft (750m climbing) though

Shame I missed the “your year in Strava” posts. I’d just like to point out that I laughed when it congratulated me on spending 24 days this year “active”.

In my defence today I did actually go out on my bike, if only to go to the shops to buy crackers and booze. In the dark and the rain. Mudguards and racks rule!
