Daily routine ‘24

Haven’t done this for a while.
I’m bored.

7:00 - alarm
7:05 - 7:30 - get up, poo, shower, dress
7:30-8:10 - dog walk, listen to podcasts
8:10-8:30 - breakfast, coffee, nyt connections, quick cryptic, brush teeth, poo2*
8:30-9:00 - cycle to work
9:00-13:45 - work.
1:45-2:15 - lunch, grab a sandwich from little cafe
2:15-5:00 - work
5:00-5:30 - cycle home
5:30-6:00 - chill, doomscroll
6:00-7:00 - dog walk
7:00-8:30 - cook and eat dinner
8:30-11:00 - watch tv, doomscroll
11:00-11:30 - go to bed, read
11:30-7:00 - sleep

*this is always a rush

Written down, it’s obscene how little of our lives we have for ourselves isn’t it

The dog walking is admittedly my choice, but is an obligation

The above schedule doesn’t take in to account any dishwashing, laundry, hoovering, cleaning kitchens/bathrooms, the bins, nor any life admin stuff - bills, insurance, healthcare etc

anywhere between 6.30-8am - alarm
8am - wee, check phone
8.30am - make coffee and breakfast
9am - turn on tv/open laptop
9am-12pm - do work, piss about on interweb, scroll instagram
12pm-1pm - cook and eat lunch
1pm-4pm - do work, piss about on interweb, scroll instagram
4/5pm - clock off, decide if cycling or not, go cycling
6/7pm - come home cook dinner
7-10pm - watch television, do life admin
10-11pm - go bed
11pm-12am - doomscroll
sleep.

I don’t really have one but in general…

8 to 8.30 - wake, brain rot, ablutions
8.30 to 9 - coffee, put some music on and open the laptop
9 to either 12 or 1 - work
12 or 1 - lunch
Rest of the day until 5.30 is work

Then I either go to the pub / gig, sometimes play dnd online or in person, have a band practise or some other suchlike.

If I’m staying in I have dinner at 7.15pm precisely

I ring my auld Ma for a yap if I’m not in my hometown for a while, around 10pm.

I go to bed at idk 1?

Don’t have any kind of routine like this, think because I do a mix of WFH and in-office plus basically run around the kids’ schedule. My one constant is:

1am - realise that I’ve stayed up watching TV/films too late AGAIN for, like, the 1,000th day in a row…

5:45: alarm
5:50: toilet
6:05: alternate between run or gym
7:05: turn on coffee machine, feed cat
7:10: shower
7:30: make coffee, watch news on TV
8:00: log on work laptop
8:30: play with cat
between here can vary, usually do 1 load of washing whilst working, if Ive been lazy and not exercised I’ll go between 10:00 & 14:00. tend to eat anywhere between 10:30 and 14:00

17:00: log off
18:00: make tea, eat tea
19:00 feed cat

here varies usually cinema one night a week, gig one night, socialise one night. then nights in are either dicking around with music, watching sport, TV, video games the usual.

22:00 bed unless one of the above is keeping me up.

Typical weekday, almost always the same due to having a very small child

Wake up 6ish, normally doze/scroll/Connections and NYT mini
6:30: shower, change
7:00: downstairs, coffee, tidy up, maybe read
~7:30: get child up and cajole her out of bed*
8:00-9:00: get us both breakfast, get her changed and ready for childcare, take her to nursery if it’s a wednesday**
9:00-sometime: work
~an hour(ish) in the afternoon: lunch, might squeeze in a walk/errands/chores/etc
sometime-5:00: more work, sometimes skive for exercise
5:00: handover of child from childcare
5:15-6ish: make dinner
6:00-6:30: tidy up from the dinner
6:30-7:30: play with child
7:30-8:30ish: put child to bed***
8:30ish-10:00: chat to partner, maybe watch something on telly
10:00ish: bedtime

*& ** occasionally I am not responsible for sorting her out in the mornings, and if this is the case I will try to do something for myself (bike ride or gym)
***if it’s not my turn to do this i’ll probably doomscroll or maybe read but almost certainly I will not make the most of the fact no one will be asking anything of me for at least an hour

08:00 - 08:30: wake up either naturally or because I’ve been brought a cup of tea
08:30 - 09:15: drink tea, be cosy in bed, think about how I should get a lot of work done today
09:15ish: eat breakfast and remember some admin tasks I can do
10:00: finish admin tasks (usually sending an email or finding a document). Think that I should do proper work but feel really good about sending that email. Also, peckish. Have a cup of tea and a biscuit.
10:30: get dressed and consider going out to do something like return a library book or post something.
11:45: return from small, useless errand. Time for lunch! Can’t work hungry!
13:00: finished lunch, started reading a book because that’s good, that’s work. Tell myself I will stop after 15 mins.
15:30: realise I’ve wasted the day, panic, begin banging away on the keyboard.
17:30: finish because husband will be finished his work, make dinner or wait for dinner to be made for me.
18:00: think about how tomorrow’s going to be a much more productive day.
23:30: bedtime, dreams of having achieved more dance in my head.

If I am close to a deadline or feeling very stressed, I will book a space somewhere outside of the house quite often and sit there banging my head off the laptop for 4/5 hours.

i’ll do my last job since I’m studying atm and my schedule is different all the time.

08:55 - wake up
09.00 - open laptop and appear active on teams or whatever
09.05 - 09.20 - make coffee
09.20 - 13.00 - work
13.00 - 14.00 - lunch and brush teeth
14.00 - 17.00 - work
17.00 - 23.00 - fuck about, dinner at 20.00
23.00 - 00.00 - shower, teeth etc
02.00 - sleep

There’s no way I’m depressing myself by writing that down. I’m worried that some of you don’t poop.

13.00-17.00ish: ADHD roulette wheel again, with optional nap
17.00-18.00: make and eat dinner

19:00-20:00 - decide on dinner, shop, cook
20:00-21:00 - eat dinner with a Fun TV Show (CSI, X Files)
21:00-23:00 - watch 2x eps of a Serious TV Show (The Wire, Mad Men) or a film
23:00-00:00 - mess around on YouTube and DIS
Midnight ish - bedtime

NIGHT OUT
18:00 - go to cinema/dinner or drinks before a gig
20:00 - go to gig/post cinema drinks
22:00 - get unhealthy food on the way home from late night event
22:30-23:30 - episode of Fun TV Show
Midnight ish - bedtime

6.30-7: woken up by kiddo coming in
7-7-40: give kiddo breakfast, have breakfast myself, make coffee
7:40-8: get kiddo ready for preschool and take him
8-8:30: make another coffee, bum around for a bit, shower if I need to
8:30: work
12: lunch
13-16: work
16: pick up kiddo from preschool, play, hang out
17:30 : prep kiddo’s dinner and give it to him. we might eat then or maybe later
19: start kiddo’s bedtime routine (bath, books etc)
20: kiddo usually asleep
20-22: watch tv, scroll, finish bits of work, eat dinner if we haven’t already
22ish: bed, maybe some reading in bed

8pm dinner eaters, how are you able to sleep with your tummy still digesting??
