RIP, Ege Bamyasi is one of my favourite records, led to all sorts of discoveries and interest in different music. First borrowed it at random from Birmingham library (also RIP) after recognising the name - first listen and was like what is this shite / is that it? but put it on again and then again etc.
Ahh shit. RIP
Aww no way. He was always so nice after gigs.
Ah that’s a real shame, RIP
Gutted. Saw him at the Windmill one time with Eat Lights Become Lights as the backing band. It was so good.
Took days to get the stink of weed out of my bedroom when I put him up.
Aw sad. What are the good albums? Only really know Tago Mago
Ah that is shit
Damn, knew he was ill but that is still such a shame. Going to give some Ege Bamyasi a spin this afternoon.
Oh damn, that’s really sad. Saw him perform a few times and was lucky enough to put him on with Drum Eyes. He was an incredibly lovely man. He even insisted on doing the washing up after we ate breakfast the next morning. That was quite a surreal sight, seeing Damo in marigolds washing dishes in my friend’s flat.
Damo forever ![]()
Ah, this sucks. Can are a band I always enjoyed when I listened to them, but never listened to them that often. Shame on me tbh.
Listening to Ege Bamyasi now. RIP.
Oh no ![]()
Ege Bamyasi and Future Days outside of Tago Mago. Soundtracks is good too but not sure if it’s an official album.
Think I heard them a bit in the mid to late 2000s but started listening more in 2016. The last 3 years have seen the most plays.
@paulo I probably didn’t even realize who was singing on this Sixtoo track until the mid 2010s.
Saw him in Berlin back in 2010 and he was an absolutely magical performer ![]()
One of my most treasured memories is seeing him before a gig and his astonishment when I asked him to sign a gig poster. After the gig he spotted me and spontaneously gave me a hug.
Damo Suzuki, fucking legend.
Was made up when he agreed to be best man for my wedding. His best man’s speech was completely incomprehensible, but left you wanting more! Top bloke ![]()
That’s a terrible shame
Going to spin Future Days later in tribute. Love that album so much.
