Hello, I’m increasingly in the mood for dance music these days but I don’t know much about it or have many friends who are into it and can give me recommendations.

I have been informed I like ‘outsider house’

Some artists I currently listen to - DJ Seinfeld, Ross from Friends, Barry Can’t Swim, DJ Sabrina the Teenage DJ, Ben Böhmer, Honey Dijon, Shire T, Sofie Tukker, Purple Disco Machine, Caribou, Four Tet

Hi! Quick starter question, do you tend to prefer mixes or EPs/albums?

I mainly listen to albums/EPs but I’d happily listen to mixes as a way of discovering new(to me) artists of a certain genre

I am going through my spotify library and listening to stuff i don’t know and had this on yesterday

Rupture//Rapture - Abandon

I think it counts as dance music. quite dark minimal/melodic techno maybe? It was pretty great.

(i don’t know the people you mention so apologies if its wide of the mark)

If not, then Nicolas Jaar’s Against All Logic (AAL) albums are well worth a listen. First one is more lo-fi house, second one is a bit more hard/electro edged

I’d check out the Resident Advisor podcasts. A huge archive of mixes by hundreds of amazing DJs. I’m sure everyone you’ve listed that you like will have done one on there

There is zero talking. Just your own when you say something over the top of it like “oh my gosh James Holden that’s a really nice groove your laying down, I’m just going to stand up and shake my booty for a bit if you don’t mind”
