 Thought you were talking about Baker. As you were.

Julie Burchill, not traditionally a person to dole out complimets willy nilly, once told a story (in a long piece at the front of The Guardian on Saturday) about walking down a street with Danny in the 70s, and him glancing at a shop window display and spotting a piece of dinnerware (a plate or something I think) with a swastika on it. Furious he (with her following) marched into the shop and berated the owner to take it out of the window there and then, only leaving when he’d done so.

Find it baffling how widespread this logic is still maintained in the age of Trump.

Pretty excited to see who replaces him tbh as I wasn’t allowed to listen to his show in the car before, because TV hates him.

he does loads of stuff about monkeys and apes dressed as human beings

This is all getting very Partridge

Geoff Lloyd, who filled in during holidays etc I’d have thought.

:pensive:

“Get rid of her, Lynn, she’s a drunk and a racist! I’ll tolerate one, but not both!”

Good that he was sacked but it’s a bit fucking rich coming from the same organisation that regularly platforms racists and refuses to do anything when their talent tweet bigoted views about people who aren’t the Royal family. Aghh fuck the BBC.

He seems like a nice guy otherwise but the primary way that tweet can be construed is racist, it would have taken me a very long time to come up with his explanation on my own

true but if it was fully intended as a racist tweet then surely he would have known the outcome?

Its a tricky one as it is possible he just woke up a bit groggy or in a silly mood, saw something that he thought was funny be it in the way he explained or in some sort of satirical way and tweeted it. Then suddenly there is no going back and he has lost his job and ruined his reputation.

This happens a lot though and its a pit fall of being famous but one that can be avoided

What do you propose?

Couldn’t we just have a bit of sense and not put people with hateful views on the tv?

How do you propose to do this?

When you’re booking guests you…don’t book the ones who are trying to create a state for white people etc. That sort of stuff.

Even if you are THE NEWS, and that is a massive news story? Don’t have that on?

(I’m partially playing devils advocate as agree, but I honestly don’t know where the line is/should be, and everyone else always seems very clear on that so want it explained)

A 30 second roundup of images of racists who’ve been milkshaked would be alright I reckon.
