V much enjoying this slight detour in the thread’s route!

Sorry if its a detour, quite of lot of songs i think of as dark are more just an aura than all out murder songs or whatever.

You wouldn’t immediately guess it from the lyrics, but the subject of Hi is very dark.

Fuck no, it’s only a welcome detour in comparison to what came before it.

Detour’s the wrong word. Bend? Curve? Chicane? Either way, belters the lot of them. And totally agree re the vibe rather than flatout literal dark lyrics etc.
Always got vague Wicker Man chills from 2525 for example.

Always loved this five minute funeral march of unrelenting self-flagellation.

This always gets me. It might be the darkest song I know.

When it was dark, I called, and you came. When It was dark, I saw, shapes.

Then the whole “There was a blacksmith and there’s a shepherd and there’s a butcher boy.”

The way the song continually pulls darker with its veiled story and the music eventually doing the talking and somehow hitting harder than the lyrics.

The control in it. To control raw emotion like that. On its own this song for me. I shouldn’t have linked it because when I do I end up listening to it for hours.
