The Onyx Blade kind of trivialised it - it’s got a running R1 spin attack, and the next R1 is also a wide sweep. It’s also got absurd reach. Do between that and the weapon buff, you just mow them down.

I have identified my issue (I think) and I think it’s down to levelling up weapons and stats in too much of a balanced way.

I should probably concentrate on creating one terrifying weapon rather than a load of things on +1.

It’s your first play mate don’t be too worried about what others are doing. Deacons can be a very shit boss when you’re in the early stages of the game and I often die to them when I’m not taking it seriously

started Dark Souls III today. not sure I like it as much as Bloodborne tbh. combat seems a bit 1 dimensional compared.

what does L2 do? i just do this weird side swipe with my shield that doesn’t seem to do anything.

Parry! If you have a smaller shield you’ve got more of a window to successfully pull it off. They’re a bit more environmentally aware in the Souls universe - don’t just piss away bullets like in Bloodborne!

You could try mixing it up with spells/miracles? They’re a lot more fun than the arcane stuff in BB. You’ll get more interesting weapons down the road as well, which will change your attacks/tactics.
