Dark Souls Thread - Phase 3

Yeah, not going to lie (dispite this being about the lies of P DLC) but I did drop the difficulty down from Legendary Stalker for the final boss of the DLC.

Thought the fight was great and it was an amazing spectacle but for me When phase 2 starts with a sequence of attacks that required such perfect parrying and dodging otherwise you are definitely dead and that 99% of the time I would just about make it through but would have had to use 2-3 heals to be able to carry on the fight, only to see him wind up for another burst of that attack after I have chipped away at his health some more, and me only having 1-2 heals left to survive it again was enough for me to not want to have to deal with that over and over again and drop the difficulty down.

i really wanna give the DLC another crack post nerf and see how it is now but yeah man, that boss, woof. did you use lea?

I did, I used both the story based NPCs for boss fights when prompted to. I try to solo most bosses but don’t have an issue bringing in NPCs when the story encourages you to do so.

what was the other one? might have just forgotten it

It was the Two Faced Overseer - Alidoro gives you a trumpet and asks you to give it a blow if you come across this boss and he will come and aid you.

ah shit missed that one!

Finding Lies of P okay, but it feels like it’s missing something. The level design is quite boring, and the way he runs really annoys me for some reason! I like the general vibe though.

how far in are you? the level design is def the weakest part of the game imo but it really got its hooks into me after a certain point.

Voice acting and characters pretty weak I think, I’m zipping through at the moment and hoped I’d care about the world more as the premise seemed quite cool. Seems to be where a lot of these games go wrong for me, they get bits right but not the overarching grimness of From.

I will say it’s a load better than LOTF, that really dragged towards the end for me

It definitely feels a little uninspiring in level design in the first few areas but it does get much better after that.

I’m at the Moonstone Village I think? I like it, and I like the hints of Resi it’s got too, I just haven’t felt wowed by it, but that might be the anhedonia talkin’!

It’s funny, I was comparing it to LoTF in my head, and the first ten hours of that I thought it could be a DS killer, whereas with this I’ve had a good enough time, it’s all quite familiar, but I don’t feel that compelled to jump back in. However, like you, I feel that LoTF absolutely destroyed all its goodwill with the last 20/25 hours, so I’m interested to see where this one sits in the rankings by the end!

That’s good to know! I just never want to see another mine in a game again I don’t think. At least it has a coherent sense of place though, I like that about it.

I’ve finally beaten the Nameless Puppet . A traditional combination of shot putt and acid along with turning the difficulty down.

I’d planned to take a bit of a break but I’ve just bought the DLC

I think I like old Krat much better than new Krat if I’m honest: The game feel fuller and there are more things to fight. The first location is great really reminded me of Nuka World in F4 and I’m expecting similar in the second.

I found the huge fucking crocodile last night and beat it this afternoon. Salamander dagger plus whatever the grindstone for damage is.

I’ve also beaten Marikona first time without a spectre so I must be doing something right. Puppet sabre plus getting really lucky with fable and dodging.
