Dark Souls Thread - Phase 3

Really enjoyed Surge 2 this time around. Progression is really well meted out, and by the end it’s basically a power fantasy, which feels odd for a soulslike but it is pretty fun all the same!

Back from my trip away and now with a few weeks clear for some evening PlayStation time it’s time to start Nioh 3.

Started Nioh the other day bit haven’t had loads of time on it.

I’ve beaten the first boss and first demon.

I also spent half an hour playing a reasonably well-constructed version of DS3 on Roblox when The Child got too bored of my uninspired outfits. I killed Grundyr first time so I must be doing something right.

the Shaded Woods are genuinely creepy, those sounds..

Did the first boss (after a few attempts) then did the (ultimately?!?!) pointless replay of that level before having a bit of a poke around in the open world. Just like with Nioh 1 & 2 it’s taken a few hours for the overly complex controls to begin to sink in and feel more natural but I am intrigued to see how they handle the open world element of this game.

I’m only starting Nioh 1 (should have cleared that up) but I’m struggling a bit with the difference in systems between this and Souls.

this would be very useful to me as I am trying to get the pyromancy you buy with Nadalia’s soul, except the final smelter wedge is gated behind Sir Alonne and I am never going to be able to kill him

I see DS2 now has a quite cool looking path tracing mod:

Doesn’t seem to require a top spec card either (the dev is on a 3060ti) so I reckon I’ll be giving that a go at some point. Hopefully makes it a bit more like the early footage where torches seemed like a necessity rather than the release version.

I like fast tracking phase 2 so you only have one moveset to study

Went back in an hour ago and killed him first time. This is the way

DS2 NG+ question…when I move up to the next NG level, do the souls I’m holding come with me, or do they reset to zero? I know boss souls etc carry over, I mean the ones I’ve amassed from killing enemies, the number down in the bottom right corner. Sat on nearly half a million now so it would be good to know before starting NG+…

I don’t think they will carry over. So go shopping now
