If you’re looking for a magician name, can I suggest tweaking it slightly? Maybe

Marq?
or Marok perhaps.

Fun fact: In the magic world, the person being magicked on is often called a Mark.

Turning wine into water/urine.

what’s a ‘no-mark’ in magick? The magician?

That’s a magician who does their magic without any people being involved.

He’s no Dynamo, that’s all I’ll say

Weird how different he would seem if he was just called Dave Blaine.

Is there a bigger difference between the character of a name and it’s abbreviation than between David and Dave?

Richard / Dick

Nah Richard and Dick are the same

Every time someone mentions Dynamo I feel compelled to tell them that I went to school with him. It’s my only claim to fame.

 omg, amazing! Was he nice? Please tell me he’s nice!

Yeah from what I remember. He was very quiet to be honest! He used to show us magic tricks sometimes though and I remember when David Blaine first started becoming well-known he would come into school and recreate some of the tricks he’d seen on TV within just a few days.
