Ditched ID cards too. Would’ve been a piece of cake to steamroll that through regardless.

You see, this is absolutely believable. Can’t remember exactly what I said on election night, but it was something on the lines of him being a decent man, who made some very stupid decisions for entirely the right reasons (and I don’t put going into coalition with the Tories in the first place as one of them). He deserved to lose his seat (in 2015) for those choices, but I never thought he was anything but a decent person, even when I was at my most angry with him and his party

Private school boys learn how to perform niceness. I wouldn’t read too much into it.

Yeah, the thing with Cameron is I don’t think he’d evil or anything or even deliberately nasty (unlike Gove, IDS, May Johnson etc). He was just the ‘acceptable face’ of tory austerity.
It feels like he went into politics as something to do the same way his mates probably went to work at their Dad’s golf buddies hedge fun, it was a standard career path he his type.
I don’t get the impression he was fully aware of what he was doing, as shown by the letter he wrote to his own council to complain about his own cuts. He just turned up and smiled and said the right things and won them an election. The fucked off when things got a bit hard. He didn’t even bother sitting out his term as a back bencher, that’s how little he truly cared about politics.

May of the other hand is a Roald Dahl villain made flesh. It’s incredible how someone in the public eye for so many years can be so bad at dealing with people and she’s a nasty, arrogant ideologue who would happily march this country into fascism.

So both bad but for different ways. Cameron caused these problems but May’s much more dangerous.

remember that press thing with George Bush where Dubya was doing donuts in a golf cart absolutely loving it, and Brown sitting next to him with a face like a smacked arse?

Miss late 00’s politics.

Even when I was at my most anti-cameron I still saw humanity behind in eyes, when I look into the eyes of Theresa May I feel like I’m slowly having my life taken from me.

I think that May is too awkward and unpracticed to genuinely sell her ideology to the public, whereas Cameron’s ‘charisma’ and polish meant he could sell dangerous ideas in a palatable way. Even many people who are nominally opposed to austerity still retain the underlying ‘rationale’ for it when it’s not really accurate, which I think will have a toxic effect on political rhetoric for years to come.

Austerity, his anti-refugee rhetoric and calling the fucking EU referendum (plus encouraging Euroscepticism during EU reform negotiations) are far more influential than anything May has done, or really can do without a majority, IMHO. The hideous things she did as Home Sec must have been okayed by Cameron, and whatever she does in regard to Brexit wouldn’t have happened at all if Davey Cameron hadn’t been such a pie.

First I was really amused by the photos and did big laughs at both of them. But since then I’ve moved onto rage and depression that this piece of shit has gone back to ultra-privileged carefree idyllic lifestyle, after fucking up millions of people’s lives. Bastard.

This is exactly it. His & Osborne’s “credit card” analogy are a nightmare to unpick, and deliberately so. He also deserves huge amounts of opprobrium for trying to put his own career as PM ahead of the good of the country in allowing his hard right to continuously chip away his position on Europe and gambling the future of 60 million + people without planning for what he might do if he lost.

this is so accurate it’s terrifying

wait why do we think David Cameron is good now?

We don’t, we just think he’s less evil than May and would probably be less weird to be in a social situation with.

he was definitely more male and younger.

I think people blindly fondly remember the past.

Or the present is so much worse that the past seems like a better place.

Either way there’s no way people should think this odious little porker was good or anywhere near that. The guy was a fucking omnishambles and the reason the country is in such a state is because he led it there and didn’t have the balls to see it through, running off with his curly little tale between his pink fucking legs.

I don’t like him, btw

Alright Roald Dahl

Would be cool if y’all didn’t need to use slander, by an equally odious character, as the first thing against someone for which a great number of true discreditations could be leveled.

Cheers.

Its just lame. We look down at people that say Obama is an arab muslim from kenya and yet…

yet?
