I saw it when it came out and was amused by the amount of men who walked out crying while there partners were looking very confused.
I saw it when it came out too and it was the first film I saw where the crowd got up and applauded at the end. Always remember that.

just rewatched Wild at Heart at the cinema myself too, what a blast. Funny as hell, cool as hell, and sincerely lovely in between the brutal violence. One woman did laugh a little hard at every strange moment when some probably deserved to be given space to breathe … but hey that’s sold out crowds man, still love the energy
also really interesting having just rewatched Blood Simple the day before - I hadn’t realised how much Lynch and the Coens overlap in vibes and outlook in their earlier work. They obviously come from different angles, but it really feels like Blood Simple, Blue Velvet, Wild at Heart and Raising Arizona exist in the same sort of universe, of strange people in colourful worlds trying to get by despite all the hidden danger under the surface

Love that movie - it kind of feels like his forgotten film now which is nice as it feels like stumbling on a secret masterpiece. I guess coming at the same(ish) time as Twin Peaks will do that.
Barton Fink also sits right in the middle of the Coens/Lynch venn diagram

And…erm…yeah
had booked some time in advance that me and my girls would start our big twin peaks watching tonight, I was gonna make cherry pie and start the episode at 6:54pm so that this scene where Coop says he’s entering Twin Peaks at 11:30am would line up to happen at 7:30pm (exactly 11:30am Washington state time). one of them them got taken on a last minute trip away with her girlfriend. next year then.
