You are not a big fan of Roma, which is fine, but then you suggest people just see Cuaron is the director and all flip out over it regardless of the film’s quality. Which I do not think is true at all. I don’t automatically love every Coen brothers film, every Spielberg film, every Haneke film etc, and I don’t think anyone else does either.

I don’t think you act like that, but I don’t think it is a stretch to say that a fan of a director, musician, author etc may be more forgiving of a film’s flaws because they are a big fan of their previous work. I am speaking as a Weezer fan here.

Also definitely think are film criticism there is a lot of running #narratives that keep think pieces ticking over and Cuaron being a master of cinema who can excel in any genre is one of them.

Tickets bought for a christmas eve showing of The Muppets Christmas Carol. Not convinced I have ever seen it so am pretty excited.

Me and my daughter spend so much time at our local cinema, but I am really excited for this one. Thats the shit you remember when you grow up, isn’t it, so I must make a point of not ruining a lovely moment.

MUBI news

Carnival of Souls is on there and is very entertaining. Looks crisp as fuck and you can see how much David Lynch is influenced by it.

Also everyone’s second favourite Lithuanian auteur Sharunas Bartas has a film on there called Frost, which I’m looking forward to seeing.

Just been using Letterboxd to try to collect a certain lazy (normally romantic) film comedy poster aesthetic that really fucking drives me up the wall when I see it used. Feels very modern too (all of these are 2000s)
