brie de meaux is the protected one I think. generic brie can be made anywhere, even though its named after a region.

same as here you can buy irish cheddar, or welsh, for example.

edit: and the french have such disdain for brit cheese that they call plastic burger cheese ‘cheddar’!!! almost makes me want to leave the eu.

I was at a posh french party once and they had this cheese selection out of about 40 cheeses. I asked the guy serving to recommend a couple and he shrugged and said “they’re all the same” silently adding “to you” with his eyes.

At this point I genuinely would not be surprised if we were told “negotiations are going well but have been extended for another 72 hours to deal final details” on January 2nd, the UK having crashed out and Kent being reduced to a burning dogging vortex

I presume Johnson is absolutely livid he didn’t have a union jack face mask and berated at least one lacky about it.

Boris Johnson’s dinner with EU chief Ursula von der Leyen - aimed at breaking the Brexit trade deadlock - has ended without agreement.

these cunts are doing the whole thing over fucking dinner?!

That Guardian article even explained what the dinner consisted of. Nuts.

Also don’t we hold all the cards? Is the problem that the EU is actually playing Yahtzee?
