Sorry about this @iamwiggy

This is a pretty good summary of this story. Perhaps surprisingly, given it’s the BBC

Gonna take me a while to take in all the subtle points in that article.

I wonder at what point the penny dropped that simply threatening the EU with rationed access to our nation’s loveliness wasn’t ever going to get anything in return. Or has it not even dropped now?

I suspect most of the relevant people knew all along that the EU would be unlikely to cave to the vast majority of their demands and it’s largely been theatre on their part. I’m sure there’s a few like David Davis and IDS who were being honest when they were saying things like “easiest trade deal in history” and “we hold all the cards” though.

It’s just strikingly bald thought isn’t it? “Welcome to the negotiations. What are you offering?” “Absolutely nothing. How dare you even ask. Now can we still sell you cars?”

Can’t wait for Tories on the tele saying it isn’t their fault.

Fuck’s sake. Let’s hope that the UK just caves in and accepts terms at the last second, but looking increasingly like these cretins are too dogmatic to do that.

Absolutely zero chance. In fact it seems to rule out ever doing any sort of bilateral deal with anyone since apparently doing anything that someone else wants is “losing our sovereignty”, rather than just “a deal”.

Feel a bit numb, tbh. Genuinely, despite everything, didn’t think it would come to no deal. Oh sweet naivety.

Still reckon there’ll be a deal

Bit stupid if they were holding euros in the UK anyway, youd have to convert them!
