Seen 10 - Belle sounds cool

Really bugs me when end of year lists are half full of films that haven’t even come out yet.

and 3 of the top 5 to boot

are they taking votes from people outside the UK for this, or is it votes from critics who saw things earlt at film festivals etc? seems especially weird for a UK-centric list and organisation

It’ll mainly be the latter

yeah, guess these lists will always be out of kilter with ones made by people who have to go by the general release dates

still, annoying

Up until their recent redesign it had ‘The International Film Magazine’ on it’s cover, and has always covered cinema from around the globe including the major festivals, so it doesn’t bother me too much.

You can see all the votes here:

American Film Institute’s top 10 American films of the year

Don’t Look Up
King Richard
Licorice Pizza
Nightmare Alley
The Power of the Dog
Tick, Tick… Boom!
The Tragedy of Macbeth
West Side Story

looks like something i will secretly enjoy the hell out of on netlix at some point

Stop, stop, it’s already dead etc
