While I recognise the value of authorial intent, if it isn’t the game it doesn’t count and I am free to interpret as I see fit

I haven’t played the game, I just like the memes

‘Marge, I’d like a moment alone in the voting booth’
‘Are you going to vote for the Tories again?’
‘…yes’

Got the annual work email round about buying Christmas presents for local kids, except this year they’ve added on a bit about food donations because that’s become a bigger issue this year.

Of course. Makes me so fucking angry.

If anyone wants to vote Labour but is worried about their local candidate’s position on trans rights/gender recognition, I heard about this interesting idea. Someone I know who’s local candidate has signed up to a TERF-y campaign posted a pic of their postal ballot on facebook. They put a T in the Lab candidate’s box and wrote next to it - “I want my vote for to count for Labour but I strongly oppose [candidate]'s position on gender recognition”
Apparently this means it will be questioned at the count, and the candidate will have to openly argue that the vote should be counted for them and therefore to justify her position publicly.

note: I haven’t educated myself about trans/gender issues as much as I think I should have, so I don’t know if this is a good thing to do per se, just thought it might be interesting to some.

Curtice was on the radio this morning. His take was basically: the gap is the same as before the election. Tories got an early bounce, Labour then got one. He said that Brexit Party are being squeezed by tory leavers, and the Lib Dems by Labour remainers.

Blah blah blah, everything’s coming up Brexit.

So what, another hung parliament?

Tory/Lib-Dem coalition with Boris’ Deal vs Remain referendum as part of it and Boris’ Deal going through by about 1% or something fucking stupid.

Hung parliament, Lib Dems and Labour both dump their leaders. Confidence and supply from Lib Dems and SNP to interim Labour leader on second referendum ticket.

how are we going to deal with the outpouring of grief and make sure everybody on here is safe in the event of a Tory majority next Thursday?

Not on the wind up here, would that not be a spoilt ballot?

Yeah if I was in that position I’d be way too wary of giving ‘them’ the opportunity not to count my vote. Couldn’t do this in a tight constituency, anyway.

I don’t know
