Deerhunter Thread (Rolling)

The 1-2 of NEH into Saved By Old Times is right up there with the best I’ve ever heard.
Have always marginally preferred the latter though.

listening now for the first time since Josh died, aww man
such a beautiful and perfect album, about 6 tracks that i could have voted for here

Yeah same, one of my favourite albums of all time.

I love the way it flows together, making a grand entrance with Cover Me (Slowly)/Agoraphobia/Never Stops then slowing things down a bit, before ramping it right back up with NEH/SBOT and bringing it all home with Twilight at Carbon Lake :ok_hand: :ok_hand: :ok_hand:

Announced for Field Day

Meh. Hoping for some standalone UK dates. Maybe Brighton, Manchester, Leeds?

Completely backed. The pacing on this record is an absolute masterclass IMO, and what makes it even more amazing is that it feels like it shouldn’t work at all. Like, it’s quite odd to basically have ‘EP’ then a few strange one minute sketches, then another ‘EP’ for the second half. Whenever I listen to it on vinyl, I’m always flabbergasted that side B starts with ‘NEH’, which in my head feels like home stretch, not side two. On paper, the whole thing ‘should’ be really bitty and topsy-turvy, but it works so beautifully.

Only one winner in this one and we can thank Josh for that bassline…

Can’t believe the votes for VHS Dream are so low here!

Plains is a jam. Liked all 3 tracks so far

Whilst Microcastle seems to have been their high water mark a run of Microcastle, Halcyon Digest, Monomania, and Fading Frontier is remarkable really. Not one of them is less than an 8/10

It’s clearly, CLEARLY the best song on that record

Slow Swords is good as well

Have you seen the documentary ‘Teenage’? I remember VHS Dream Being used really well in it

Edit: Bradford Cox did the score

Cryptograms is the best album but some distance don’t @ me

This is a take I can get behind

Rehearsal on their Instagram, including Lake Somerset!

Amazing, now I’m really nervous that they’re not going to announce any uk dates other than Field Day
