no, cos the album is still a ripsnorter - separate the art from the artist and all that jazz…

bob’s remix is subtly different - taking the drums out for the most part and stripping it back, adding the piano; it’s simple but effective

definitely looking forward to the whole shebang next week

I’m still listening (it’s my AOTY) but, yeah, there’s an unpleasant niggle in the back on my mind every time I press play now.

To put that into a bit of context, Ryan Adams was my favourite musician but I haven’t listened to a note of his music for going on two years. Guess I’ve found my line when it comes to problematic musicians?

I gave up with this album. It does so little for me. I wish I could love it like you folks do, but I just get bored every time I listen to it. Tried a few times but nope, it’s not clicking.

My first Deftones Disappointment.

Nah. Folk have terrible terrible opinions that I disagree with, but unless I’ve missed something he’s not done anything to warrant a Science Fiction style cull from the AOTY lists, in my view.

And I fucking love Ohms, it is really great.

i quite like this.

I’ve also not listened to Ryan Adams, despite him probably being my most listened to artist before all that. What he’s done is abhorrent and in a different place…

With Steph Carpenter I feel it’s a little different - I mean he’s clearly very, very misinformed - dangerously so when it comes to infectious disease stuff, just WTF so with the flat earth stuff, but he’s not really out there spreading his misinformation that I’ve seen? The press that came out recently was from a conspiracy theory podcast or something? So you’d have to be actively seeking that out (or reading music press) to have come across it in which case you’re likely misinformed already…
He’s also apologised for the way he spoke, and clarified he was just speaking his own views (I mean, if he wants to have them… then fine , I guess? Doesn’t make his riffs shit)

Even someone like Ian Brown is worse - spreading it publicly on an open platform like twitter

Gonna have a go at doing mine tomorrow. Fun!

anyone given black stallion a listen yet?

Listening now, bit underwhelming so far I think, the only track that’s grabbed me was the eurodisco remix of Elite.

Paving the way for Neon Pony maybe, remixed by Dr Alban and Aqua.

Rainbow Unicorn, the Kero Kero Bonito covers record

It’s fine, but one thing’s for sure, Yes! Squarepusher’s the fucking daddy!

Nice to have white pony in the right order on Spotify if northing else

surprisingly - and disappointingly - lacklustre

there’s some fine individual takes on tracks but it really doesn’t work cohesively

On it now. Blanck Mass the only thing to stand out so far, because he’s the best all the time. Not up to the Squarepusher one yet so everything to play for

Tell a lie, I’ve enjoyed a lot more of this than I thought I would. I like the ones where the structure has been fucked with more than the ones that are basically just the same songs

This is so good. Only just clocked that he’s remixed a song where the vocals sing push back the square
