First became aware of Denise with a guest spot she did on the excellent Rusangano Family album from a few years back. In the last couple of years though she’s released a string of amazing solo singles, features and an EP, taking in elements of grime, spoken word, hip hop, dancehall etc. She’s a magnetic live performer as seen below.
Fair warning, a lot of the lyrical references, wordplay etc are very Irish-specific and might baffle the casual listener in places - a glossary would be handy but i’m far too lazy for that. Her debut mixtape is out on October 2nd!
