I’m a sucker for any sort of vaguely noir private detective stuff, but put this on with quite low expectations. Loved it. Thought it was really stylish and moody. Then about two thirds of the way through the writers must’ve smoked a huge joint and, without spoilers, I love that sort of stuff as well. Plus, Beadie Russell.
Genuinely thought Colin Farrell was really good in it. Don’t think it needed that twist but I enjoyed it overall. Great soundtrack too.

It was…ok.
I’m a massive noir nerd so I guess with the set up/setting I was expecting a full on tribute to Chinatown as well as a lot of classic LA set noirs.
Fun and lots to like but a bit forgettable.
Oh yeah and I have turned at some point from finding Farrell annoying to being a proper fan. Think he just needed to get older.
Thought it was a fun noir and we don’t get much noir these days so I’ll take what I can get. Love a bit of Hollywood Examining Its Own Myth And Legacy too. Not essential, but also I’m pretty burned out on massive epic streaming series now, so something fun and functional is pretty welcome.
Twist is presumably setting the Big Story Arc stuff up because it’s otherwise pretty irrelevant (and I’d figured it out about three episodes in - if you knew there was a twist, when they all got together for the Big Polyglot Society Meetup and his flashbacks to The Thing, it was pretty clear tbh)
