DIS albums of the year 2024 - THE RESULTS

The results are in … and @Severed799 will be here shortly to lead you all through them.

In the mean time I’ve off to Bognor Regis for Rockaway Beach festival so I won’t be picking up much over the weekend. But I can fill in any gaps or questions - and award the all important Adebishi Shank award - at the start of next week.

A few numbers to entertain you whilst we wait for the countdown to being:

174 lists were submitted (a new record);
99 different albums were people’s favourites;
389 different albums were nominated (also a new record).

Thanks again to @Severed799 for hosting this. I’m sure you will be entertained.

good album, surprised it didn’t place a bit higher tbh! felt like a good accessible but weird album

The Smile presumably a victim of everyone finding Thom Yorke more off-putting? I found myself less inclined to listen to them throughout last year.

Sorry if this was explained elsewhere but how does the scoring system for polls work? 5 points to 1st place and 1 for fifth?

Two albums too, probably a vote-splitter

Delighted to see this make the top 50, it was my number 3 this year. Aside from my 1st place (brat) the rest of my top 5 are all albums which stopped me in my tracks on first listen by how immediately I loved them. Don’t think the other three will have had other enough/any other votes to place today, but glad this did as it is a really special album, a collaboration between two acts who I enjoy but wouldn’t have imagined working together and coming up with something genuinely new and exciting (as opposed to something that sounded like one of the acts ft. the other, which is always a possibility).

So far so great, I missed loads of these, even 12 minutes of Sumac was alright. =P
