Yeah I used to work in a similar shop, I always had a rule that I would never pay for a beer over £6.

Northern Monk, Wylam, Neon Raptor, Verdant are all luxury beers for me and I really have to be in the mood, even now I’m on a proper salary

Have flavourly completely shifted to hawking their ‘collaborations’ now?
I was a member a year or so ago and their mixed boxes weren’t too bad

Those flavourly contracts are big volumes for the breweries. Almost double the output for a brewery I used to work for. I guess they have a lot of stock to shift

Fucked it

“it’s beavertown and mikkeller’s fault I went bust, how dare they take their business from me!”

Yeah fuck that. There’s a huge sense of arrogance on display here.

I ordered from Bottle Shop for my bars for years, but they simply didn’t adapt to the changing climate and were charging ridiculous prices for stuff that wasn’t appealing enough to consumers.

Beavertown had been moving towards pushing direct distro for at least two or three years, and Mikkeller have rarely hung around just one supplier in the UK, so anchoring their business around those two accounts was asking for trouble.

ABI and Beer Hawk can do one.

Can’t imagine people are going to be keen to go business with them again surely, even after this ‘rebrand’?

In better news, the Margate Bottle Shop has reopened, a couple of the staff have taken it over

Was there last weekend and it’s exactly the same, they’ve just painted over the sign.

I’d imagine most proper indies won’t touch them, but there’s a whole load of venues with tied contracts or who aren’t as interested in where their beer is coming from: pricing is king here.

And Beerhawk/ABI have very deep pockets.

BeerBods has been bought out by Beer Hawk as well

Any Amsterdam beersnob tips please?

Finished my long walk and now I’m in the new bar in Reigate which is owned by my local beer shop in Oxted.

@rob.orch. this place might interest you. I was only a mile from the Sportsman earlier. But I was getting knackered by that point.
