the balance at the end of the month was £3407.45

august - the fund received 7 donations & made 2 grants, neither of which were to a committee member, it is currently in surplus.

the balance is £3488.21

feel a bit guilty about this but i dont want to to carry on holding this amount of money, ive not worked since things kicked off & im unlikely to get anything steady for a while, and its causing me problems to have it.

we’ve stayed over the surplus indefinitely because of the lockdown but, because youre all very generous, the total hasnt gone down much at all in those 5 or 6 months. there havent really been more requests than normal in that time; but that doesnt mean to say that there wont be a bit further down the line. so i can understand wanting to keep more in the fund.

so - would anybody be happy to take over looking after the money? id be ok taking back over when im in a better spot.

That’s very honest and open from you mate. Hopefully someone can step up and help with this. My own finances are joint with my wife and I don’t want to make things complicated, otherwise I’d offer to help.

Also don’t forget if you do need financial help or support then that’s what the fund is for, you shouldn’t feel guilty or worried about asking to use it if necessary, just because you’ve been one of the organisers of it.

i wish more people would use the fund more. and basically every time someone posts about struggling for whatever reason (or just not earning enough generally) i have to stop myself from telling them to use it.

but theres a lot of complicated emotional stuff about money & it could be seen as a bit rude to just start giving it people who didnt ask for it iykwim.

Yesterday @anon26275971 mentioned this to the committee.

I’m not comfortable taking over the account for few reasons. Mainly I’m not on DiS as often as I used to be, and I’ve been a victim of identity fraud so don’t really want to be opening up extra bank accounts and I’m not comfortable holding l to all the money.

I’m always respond to requests but I’m actually wondering if I should step down for a more active user. I’m happy to stay on if no one wants to be on the committee. But if anyone one fancies it let us know.

@colinzealuk has taken over running the fund account. for transparency i havent actually been able to send the whole amount over yet cause my bank has a £2000 limit on new payees, but ill send the rest asap.

if you have a standing order set up to the bank account in my name please cancel it. if youd like to make a donation from now on please dm col for the details of the new account.
