VOTE FOR YOUR TOP FIVE ALBUMS!!
VOTE FOR YOUR TOP FIVE ALBUMS!!

I’ve often wanted to award points to my 4th and 5th favourites especially on strong months for releases and wasn’t able due to my own rules and they end up as honourable mentions.

Vote for your favourite five albums. Make your selections clear please as it makes tallying up the scores easier. If you list a whole bunch of albums without making your selections clear I’ll take the first five mentioned as 1st, 2nd,3rd, 4th and 5th. No joint positions please. Sorry to be a pedant.

Your album of the month will get five points, 2nd placed album four points, 3rd placed album three points, 4th placed album two points and 5th one point. If you name only one album I’ll give that five points. If you name two albums I’ll score them with five and four points etc. You get the message.

Always a lot of great recommendations from you guys about albums that I’ve missed or overlooked.

My choices:
1. Taylor Swift - Lover
2. Press Club - Wasted Energy
3. Sleater Kinney - The Centre Won’t Hold
4. Marika Hackman - Any Human Friend
5. Esther Rose - You Made It This Far

  1. Black Belt Eagle Scout - At The Party With My Brown Friends
  2. Ride - This Is Not A Safe Place
  3. Shannon Lay - August
  4. Lillie Mae - Other Girls

I’m a fan of Taylor Swift’s new one. Perhaps a few songs too long but think it’s brilliant overall. Easily in my personal top five of the year.

Press Club’s new one starts where their previous left off. Sounds a bit more melodic than their previous too. All good.

Sleater Kinney was the surprise of the month for me. I’m a fan of their 90s stuff and never really liked their last few but the new album is brilliant. It’s the least SK sounding album and it’s excellent stuff.

Marika Hackman. Great pop album.

Esther Rose. Great country folk album.

Please forgive any shameless bumps of this thread during the week. I’ll keep this thread open until Sunday 8th September and so you’ll have over a week to listen to tomorrow’s releases before choosing.

Vote now!! (Or later in the week) but make your choices clear please.

4 King Gizzard - infest the rat’s nest
3 press club - wasted energy
2 follakzoid - I

  1. Andy Votel - Archipelagogo
  2. Ami Dang - Parted Plains
  3. Mica Levi - Monos OST
  4. Jason Lytle - Arthur King Presents
  5. V/A - Seitō: In the Beginning, Woman Was the Sun

Random order tbh, more a reflection of how much chance I’ve had to listen to each.

Also enjoyed giving a listen to the HTRK album and need to check out Jay Som.

  1. Rapsody - Eve
  2. Sleater Kinney - The Centre Cannot Hold
  3. The Murder Capital - When I Have Fears
  4. Horsebeach - The Unforgiving Current

Probably loads I’ve missed because I’ve been away. Surprised no other votes for Rapsody yet - an album of the year contender.

I think Jay Som might be right up your street m7

Been a fan since T&C, and seen them a stupid amount of times! Early days with the new one so far, but it sounds better than the last couple so far. I’ve got two more shows lined up on the autumn tour.

I’ll give it a listen. Lots of stuff to catch up on.

Been away a lot this month so not paying as much attention as usual. Absolutely love Eve and can see that being one of my favourites of the year, but the other three are more impressed-on-first-listen votes.
