Hard to rank this month.

  1. Palm Haze - Reve Blue
  2. Tropical Fuck Storm - Braindrops
  3. The Murder Capital - When I Have Fears
  4. Sleater-Kinney - The Center Won’t Hold
  5. Tool - Fear Innoculum

Strongest runner up: Modern Nature - How to Live (the first half isn’t doing much for me yet, but the second half is great. Sometimes it reminds me of a mixture of Beak> and Grizzly Bear maybe?)

2-4 might be better as a whole than my number one, but big chunks of the Palm Haze album are by far the most exciting release for me. Wildflower is already one of my favorite songs of the decade (9 minutes of fast, depressing, tense shoegaze), and Drop In reminds me a bit of Carnavas-era Silversun Pickups without the sadness. It has a great tempo change too that I wish went on forever. The next album has a chance to be really special.

The Tropical Fuck Storm album is fantastic as expected, and like the debut it’s bleak and catchy at the same time. I love the lyric style so much, I have no idea how they come up with all of that.

Big thanks to everyone voting for The Murder Capital, I’d never heard of them before and took a chance on it based on how much it was showing up. It’s great.

The Sleater-Kinney album exceeded my expectations, it’s already comfortably ahead of No Cities to Love and One Beat for me.

Not sure what time I’ll do the counting up. Let’s call the cut off around 3pm.

  1. Cultdreams - Things That Hurt
  2. Blanck Mass - Animated Violence Mild
  3. The Murder Capital - When I Have Fears
  4. Press Club - Wasted Energy
  5. Sleater-Kinney - The Center Won’t Hold
  6. Palm Haze - Reve Bleu

Tool
Slipknot
Feeder
Pijn & Conjurer

Can’t remember who recommended Cultdreams (formerly Kamikaze Girls) but it is a fantastic record. Haven’t spent enough time with Slipknot or Tool albums to rank them honestly, but they could both be anywhere in the top 5. Special mention to Feeder. It’s a really good album which reminds me of their album Echo Park. I haven’t given it a place though as it’s really nothing new despite being enjoyable.

i was gonna vote Oh Sees and Ty Segall but didn’t get round to working out the rest of my 5. surprisingly little love for either of those though

March wins month of the year for me clive

Probably August for me. I never gave the Lana Del Rey album a listen until a few days ago. It’s a very strong album. Such a grower with each listen. I should have changed my votes. Too late now.

Comet is coming and little simz both aoty contenders for me and billie Eilish was March too butinexplicably didn’t make the album of the month cut(29th of March which might explain it?)

I hadn’t listened to the new Ty Segall. I have since I posted this, and it’s great.

I’m not sure it’s an album with much longevity tbh. Loved it on first few listens, but now feel like I’m getting less each time.
