1. Agnes Obel
  2. Bambara
  3. Spinning Coin

A great month for jazz, but Grimes takes the top spot. Like her or not, she’s releasing music like nobody else in my view. Extra bonus points awarded for the audacity of 4ÆM.

1. Grimes - Miss Anthropocene
2. Gil Scott-Heron & Makaya McCraven - We’re New Again
3. Nyx Nótt - Aux Pieds de la Nuit
4. Moses Boyd - Dark Matter
5. Caribou - Suddenly

Nyx Nótt was my surprise find of the month. I was tempted to push up further, but settled on third. Limited coverage outside of The Quietus, but a beautiful project.

  1. Caribou
  2. Grimes
  3. Lanterns on the Lake
  4. Sunda Arc
  5. Tame Impala

  1. Califone - Echo Mine
  2. Agnes Obel - Myopia
  3. Douglas Dare - Milkteeth
  4. Shelf Nunny - Utangatta
  5. Yani Martinelli - Astral

Not entirely sure Caribou is my number one yet, but will put it there for now.

(Sol Seppy would be recommended to anyone who liked the Agnes Obel album. Although unfortunately I didn’t like the Agnes album as much as her previous music, especially her debut which is still brilliant)

  1. Guided By Voices
  2. soccer mommy
  3. Lanterns on the Lake
  4. The Homesick
  5. Beach Bunny

Best GBV album since August By Cake to my ears, covers loads of their best styles. Soccer Mommy sounds a touch too restrained but it’s still great and will only improve over time. LOTL has a few absolute beauties on there (especially Every Atom) and the last two are just good fun indie rock albums

  1. Gil Scott-Heron & Makaya McCraven - We’re New Again
  2. Bambara - Stray
  3. Spanish Love Songs - Brave Faces Everyone
  4. Sunda Arc - Tides
  5. Moses Sumney - grae pt 1

I’ve got highly important stuff today like ironing and making packed lunches for me during the week and so I’ll count up the votes at noon today. Get your final choices in quickly.

  1. Ghost Halo - Chemical Rain
  2. Ratboys - Printer’s Devil
  3. Wednesday- I Was Trying

Only just realised there’s a new U.S. Girls album too. Need to give that a go!

That’s a March release. I skimmed listened to it. Probably will rate high on many people’s March AOTM vote.

Feel like the Caribou album got a bit of a kicking in the thread too, so it’s odd to see it second place! Surprised to see that the Against All Logic album at the top too. Not that I’m complaining about either entry, like them both a lot!

A worthy winner, and that’s ignoring the amazing EP that he dropped just before the album!

Three excellent albums, good work DiS
