- Gezan - 狂 (Klue)
One of the most creative and envelope-pushing noise rock albums I’ve heard. Completely off-the-wall vocals, big dubby basslines, elements of neo-psych and industrial music… think there is even a didgeridoo on one of the tracks. Very likely to be in my year end top 5.
- The Homesick - The Big Exercise
A bright and sunny post-punk album with oodles of character. The clarinet and harpsichord are a nice touch and make it sound almost baroque in places. Reminds me quite a bit of Apple Venus Volume 1 by XTC.
- Moses Boyd - Dark Matter
Definitely my favourite jazz record of the year so far - very varied but never incoherent, and I just can’t get enough of the percussion on this thing.
- Against All Logic - 2017-2019
I’m probably in the minority here, but this is a definitely improvement over the last record for me. Earworm after earworm of tech house greatness.
- Collocutor - Continuation
Another jazz album that seems to have gone under the radar quite a bit, but this is an incredibly expressive and hypnotic record.
