1* Spanish Love Songs
2* Moses Sumney
3* Beach Bunny
4* The Orellies
5* Allie X

Very close month. I feel like this could change at any given moment.
Honorable mentions Denzel Curry and Tennis

You should probably specify which Princess Nokia record as they’re technically 2 different releases.

The nice one. Haven’t spent enough time with the not nice one yet

The not nice one sounded too much like an ICP record for my tastes

‘Everything is Beautiful’ is the one you’re referring to FAO @BMS1

  1. Gezan - 狂 (Klue)

One of the most creative and envelope-pushing noise rock albums I’ve heard. Completely off-the-wall vocals, big dubby basslines, elements of neo-psych and industrial music… think there is even a didgeridoo on one of the tracks. Very likely to be in my year end top 5.

  1. The Homesick - The Big Exercise

A bright and sunny post-punk album with oodles of character. The clarinet and harpsichord are a nice touch and make it sound almost baroque in places. Reminds me quite a bit of Apple Venus Volume 1 by XTC.

  1. Moses Boyd - Dark Matter

Definitely my favourite jazz record of the year so far - very varied but never incoherent, and I just can’t get enough of the percussion on this thing.

  1. Against All Logic - 2017-2019

I’m probably in the minority here, but this is a definitely improvement over the last record for me. Earworm after earworm of tech house greatness.

  1. Collocutor - Continuation

Another jazz album that seems to have gone under the radar quite a bit, but this is an incredibly expressive and hypnotic record.

That Denzel Curry record is great. Discovering that late in the month has turned this from an ok month to a good one for me.

3 Allie X - Cape God
4 Four Year Strong - Brain Pain
5 Loathe - I Let It In And It Take Everything

Agnes Obel streets ahead of everything else, then a gap between Caribou and the interchangeable other three.

  1. Ghost Halo - Chemical Rain (my AOTY so far)
  2. Against All Logic - 2017-2019
  3. Gil Scott Heron & Makaya McCraven - We’re New Again
  4. Beatrice Dillon - Workaround
  5. Lucy Gooch - Rushing (strictly an EP, but :man_shrugging:)

Cracking month, if there are any better then this will be a great year for music, much like 2000 and 2010 I guess. I’ve enjoyed all of the below so much that I’ve probably not given any one the time it deserves, and parts of more releases still. Otik’s Wetlands EP is probably the best thing I’ve heard all month but have kept my list to LPs.

  • Against All Logic - 2017 - 2019
  • Gil Scott-Heron / Makaya McCraven - We’re New Again
  • Beatrice Dillon - Workaround
  • Navy Blue - Ada Irin

  • Juniore - Un, Deux, Trois
  • Nyx Nott - Aux pieds de pa nuit
