I’m currently listening to the Yu Su album based on this post, and I love it!

The LICE album is absolutely brilliant. Clearly indebted to post-punk but very ambitious with it, feels like they’re really trying to take it somewhere new, not just some 1980 throwback. Echoes of the birthday party, the fall, killing joke etc but also mezzanine era massive attack.

Also enjoying Sleaford Mods (their best since ‘Key Markets’ imo) and Still Corners.

No worries, great record.

It’s really cool. She’s great, her ‘Roll With The Punches’ EP a few years ago (2019?) was really great too. Went for this on the strength of that.

Im surprised it didn’t do better tbh. I think Girl Band are an obvious comparison and they are really popular on here.

Surprised not to see Goat Girl dent the top ten at all - though that would be super DiS compliant. Would recommend folk check that out…

scored just 13 points and put them joint 16th.

Decided to check LICE out because of EVI’s description, Turned it off because the singer sounds like your man from Girl Band

I guess the main issue with that album is that it’s not particularly good.

That comparison hadn’t crossed my mind but now you’ve said it I see what you mean. Could never get into Girl Band though.

I can only guess not many have heard LICE on Dis? Like you said i think lots on here would like it.

Not heard of them but will give it a spin later :+1:

Definitely my favourite of the month :+1:

Lots of comments on the relevant release thread about people being ambivalent about it.

What can I say, people are idiots :woman_shrugging:

How many points did my LP get in the end? There were a few who had it in their top 5s

I make it 16points if I’ve counted properly

should have voted myself and put it into the top 10

Well no, just people like different stuff. It washed over me on the listens I gave it and I haven’t been back to it. Which is a shame as the previous was great

I was joking, people can like what they want :+1:

Just surprised as I loved it, having also loved the first album while also being pleased that they’ve developed their sound. Then again, in a similar vein, I loved that Mitski album that most folk on here thought was shit so :woman_shrugging:

I thought I was really gonna like it, but some you win, some you lose

Listening to it again right now :grinning:
