I’ll give your first choice ten points, second choice nine points etc. also please don’t give any joint firsts, seconds etc. either as it’ll make scoring easier if each choice has a set position. Maybe it’s a blood out of stone thread but it’ll be interesting to see which albums are still in favour from thoses mentioned in the AOTM threads.

I unfortunately simply don’t have the time to count up the hundreds of albums that would be mentioned if I did a free for all six monthly vote; just those albums above please. After all it’s you guys that voted them up there. If this thread takes off I’ll do the counting in a couple of weeks. I’ll post nearer to the time to when I’ll be doing the counting and you’ll hopefully get a chance to get your votes in.

Up to ten choices please.

Rafael Anton Irisarri
Malibu Ken
Tyler the Creator
The Comet is Coming
Holly Herndon
Bruce Springsteen
Theon Cross

Top 3 likely to make my top 10 for the year. Most of the rest of my top ten of this half alone didn’t make the cut on the monthly votes. Nice to have this list as a prompt to check out some well received albums that I missed, and a reminder that some people will vote for any old shit if they only listen to one album in a month (looking at you, National voters).

  1. Deerhunter
  2. WH Lung
  3. Cate Le Bon
  4. Spielbergs
  5. Pye Corner Audio
  6. Press Club

Top five I absolutely love and have been significant soundtracks to the year, the rest I need to spend a bit more time with to see if they’re keepers

  1. Big Thief
  2. The Comet is Coming

  4. Chai
  5. Hayden Thorpe
  6. Fontaines DC
  7. Freddie Gibbs and Madlib
  8. Deerhunter

  10. These New Puritans

Lots of great stuff this year, but even so the Big Thief album is in a league of its own, not expecting anything to take top spot from it by the end of the year.

Top 8 easy choices, last 2 I’ve only given an initial listen to but enjoyed enough to be giving more time to.

Outside the list I think Mary Lattimore & Mac McCaughan’s New Rain Duets might be my aoty so far, which surprised me.

edit - Cate Le Bon has actually been the big surprise for me. I’m a fan but don’t like the Drinks project stuff and just generally felt like she was moving in a direction I wasn’t keen on but this is unlike anything she’s done before and I think is utterly brilliant.

The top two are the only albums I have loved so far this year, so hoping that the second half has a bit more going for it.

The album is quite dull but this is a bit unfair?

Not a lot between these, to the point where they are almost interchangeable.
Some really good albums hovering under.
Surprised the Jessica Pratt record didn’t make the long list.
This thread’s reminded me to check out The Comet Is Coming, they looked amazing at Glastonbury.
