VOTE FOR YOUR TOP FIVE ALBUMS!!
Vote for your favourite five albums. Make your selections clear please as it makes tallying up the scores easier. If you list a whole bunch of albums without making your selections clear I’ll take the first five mentioned as 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th. No joint positions please. Sorry to be a pedant.
Your album of the month will get five points, 2nd placed album four points, 3rd placed album three points, 4th placed album two points and 5th one point. If you name only one album I’ll give that five points. If you name two albums I’ll score them with five and four points etc. You get the message.
My choices:
1. Claud - Supermodels
2. Palehound - Eye On The Bat
3. Julie Byrne - The Greater Wings
4. Lifeguard - Dressed In Trenches
5. Grouplove - I Want It All Right Now
- PJ Harvey - I Inside The Old Year Dying.
Another quiet month for me so far and the above is probably all the new stuff I’ve heard. Really like the bedroom pop feel of Claud’s new album. The debut, Super Monster, was ok but this is a great record.
My positions 2 to 5 are fairly arbitrary. I just couldn’t get on with the new PJ Harvey album. I heard a song on 6 Music before the album came out and it was obvious that it was going to be a quiet moody album. The tunes haven’t clicked for me and so neither has the album. I’ll give it a lot of more listens purely due to the fact that I’ve a pricey ticket for one of her Roundhouse gigs.
Always a lot of great recommendations from you guys about albums that I’ve missed or overlooked. There seems to be a few new ones of interest for me tomorrow with releases from Georgia, Dexy’s Midnight Runners (yes, really!) and the debut from Best Coast’s Bethany Cosentino…although I’m expecting the words fun and sun to feature heavily on that one.
Please forgive any shameless bumps of this thread during the week. I’ll keep this thread open until Sunday 6th August and so you’ll have over a week to listen to tomorrow’s releases if there’s anything out before choosing.
Vote now!! (Or later in the week) but make your choices clear please.
