Dream Wife just missing the top 5. Really like all those 6 and they could have been in any order really. Other mentions in despatches:
Lorelle Meets the Obsolete - Datura
Estrella del Sol - Figura de Cristal
pardoner - Peace Loving People
Louise Post - Sleepwalker
Lloyd / Bean - Black Cat, Dark Horse
The Laura Cannell Echolocation one is a grower too I think.
- Protomartyr - Formal Growth in the Desert
- King Krule - Space Heavy
- Caterina Barbieri - Myuthafoo
- WITCH - Zango
- Christine and The Queens - Paranoïa, Angels, True Love
Also enjoyed:
Anthony Naples - Orbs
Baxter Dury - I Thought I was Better Than You
McKinley Dixon - Beloved! Paradise! Jazz!?
Most of my month was spent obsessing over that top three which set a very high bar tbh. Just find myself playing them over and over again. That WITCH album is a total blast from start to finish. The Christine and The Queens latest is quite the epic but when it lands, there is some astonishingly beatiful moments on there. Felt the new Baxter Dury was a slight step down from his past couple but going to give it some more time to sink in.
Still need to check out the King Gizzard, Jess Williamson, Klara Lewis & Nik Colk Void, Cory Hanson, Decisive Pink and Janelle Monae albums.
- Loma Prieta - Last
- Cory Hanson - Western Cum
- Hayden Pedigo - The Happiest Times I Ever Ignored
- Boldy James - Prisoner of Circumstance
- Militarie Gun - Life Under The Gun
That Protomartyr just hasn’t clicked for me yet
Yeah, I think there’s an AOTM in there with pruning. I need to listen more, but as it is it’s way too long and though singing over Pachelbel’s Canon might support the narrative, it gives me the ick to listen to.
- Joanna Sternberg - I’ve Got Me
- DARKSIDE - Live At Spiral House
- Michael J. Blood & Sockethead - Eating Late
- kinseyLloyd - Gemini
- feeble little horse - Girl With Fish
Oh gosh yeah that makes me cringe a bit too ![]()
I mean I stuck it on whilst going for a walk the other day and found it to be quite dreamlike despite there being so much going on with like you said the whole narrative, the features and just the general length but tracks like To Be Honest, A Day In The Water, True Love and Tears Can Be Soft are just staggering. The album has really taken on the brooding gloom of Redcar and found some beauty amongst it all.
- Baxter Dury - I Thought I Was Better Than You
- Various - Luke Una presents Soul Cultura vol 2
- Gacha Bakradze - Pancakes
- Creep Show - Yawning Abyss
- Bdrmm - I Don’t Know
Really like the Baxter Dury Album, but would much prefer a version that missed off the first 30 seconds, which make me cringe.
Quite an average month for me.
