Vote for your favourite album and also your second and third choices. Make your selections clear please as it makes tallying up the scores easier. If you list a whole bunch of albums without making your selections clear I’ll take the first three mentioned as 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. No joint positions please. Sorry to be a pedant.
Your album of the month will get three points, 2nd placed album two points and 3rd placed album one point. If you name only one album I’ll give that three points. If you name two albums I’ll score them with three and two points accordingly.
1.Camp Cope - How to Socialise and Make Friends
2.The Breeders - All Nerve
3.Sons Of Kemet - Your Queen Is A Reptile
4.Soccer Mommy - Clean
5.Habibi - Cardamom Garden
6.Essaie Pas - New Path
I’d never heard of Camp Cope before this release. A brilliant record. On first listen I thought it was brash in parts and the “same old stuff”. Glad I proved myself wrong with repeated listens and it turns out to be a very heartfelt, intelligent album with brilliant lyrics. The tunes are great too. Easily my top pick. I’d absolutely love to see them live.
Last Splash is one of my favourite all time albums. I’m old enough to have Last Splash as a soundtrack of my teenage and uni years. I’ve never really warmed to Pod or their other albums much unfortunately. I really liked All Nerve. It’s a short album with some brilliant songs and it sounded great on my crap commute home earlier. I think I heard it three times on repeat on my way home yesterday.
The Sons Of Kemet album is out tomorrow but I’ve heard the two songs released plenty of times. They’re long tracks; both around six minutes and so I get a sense of their sound and style. Really loved them and even if the rest of the album turns out to be crap (which I 100% doubt) it’ll easily be in my top 3. I’ll see if it makes it to my second pick after a proper listen.
Please forgive any shameless bumps of this thread during the week. I’ll keep this thread open until Sunday 8th April and so you’ll have over a week to listen to tomorrow’s releases before choosing.
Vote now!! (Or later in the week) but make your choices clear please
