VOTE FOR YOUR TOP FIVE ALBUMS!! VOTE FOR YOUR TOP FIVE ALBUMS!!
I’ve often wanted to award points to my 4th and 5th favourites especially on strong months for releases and wasn’t able due to my own rules and they end up as honourable mentions.
Vote for your favourite five albums. Make your selections clear please as it makes tallying up the scores easier. If you list a whole bunch of albums without making your selections clear I’ll take the first five mentioned as 1st, 2nd,3rd, 4th and 5th. No joint positions please. Sorry to be a pedant.
Your album of the month will get five points, 2nd placed album four points, 3rd placed album three points, 4th placed album two points and 5th one point. If you name only one album I’ll give that five points. If you name two albums I’ll score them with five and four points etc. You get the message.
My choices:
that dog - Old LP
Lisa Prank - Perfect Love Song
Kim Gordon - No Home Record
Carla Dal Forno - Look Up Sharp
Jemma Freeman And The Cosmic Something - Oh really, what’s that then?
Great to have that dog back again after two decades. The first time I heard them was on a Volume 9 CD bought in 1994 the day before my A 'Level results came out. Loved the song One Summer Night on Volume 9 and their albums especially Retreat From The Sun. Their new one is a great return to form.
Lisa Prank is a fun power pop album. Kim Gordon’s album is better than any Thurston Moore that I’ve heard. Carla Dal Forno’s new one is her best yet and thank you to a few of you for mentioning Jemma Freeman. Never heard of her before and now glad that I have; great album.
Always a lot of great recommendations from you guys about albums that I’ve missed or overlooked.
Please forgive any shameless bumps of this thread during the week. I’ll keep this thread open until Sunday 3rd November so you’ll have over a week to listen to tomorrow’s releases before choosing.
Vote now!! (Or later in the week) but make your choices clear please.
Ridiculously strong month - the top two are my two AOTYs and Big Thief would have been my number one most months. Three of my top five records of the year released within seven days.
Slightly disappointed by the Angel Olsen record which is decent but feels slightly uninvolving compared with the Cave and Dawson records. I would perhaps have liked it more if it had been released at a different time of year.
