The Soft Pink Truth - Is It Going To Get Any Deeper Than This?
Gilla Band with their strongest LP yet, Bill’s back with my favourite of his since 2011, The Soft Pink Truth not hitting the same hieghts as their last LP but it’s really growing on me. Numbers 3-5 could easily have swapped with any of Mabe Fratti, Dry Cleaning, Rival Console, Lucrecia Dalt or Daphni. Lots I’ve not heard yet either.
Lots of music this month. Not really sure how to number any of these, but will most likely buy (or have already bought) my top 8 or so albums I think:
Sara Parkman - Eros Agape Philia
June McDoom - June McDoom
Loke Rahbek - Together
Sleep Party People - Heap Of Ashes
Marble Sounds - Marble Sounds
Mi Mye - My Name’s Wimp
Kalabrese - Let Love Rumpel (Part 2)
Dez Mona - Loose Ends
Lucrecia Dalt - ¡Ay!
Logan Farmer - A Mold For The Bell
Nev Cottee - Madrid
Twain - Noon
Julia Sabra / FadinTabbal - Snakeskin
Mathias Kom & Toby Goodshank - Miller Time
Jessica O’Donoghue - Rise Up
Princess Chelsea - Everything Is Going To Be Alright
Oskar Schuster - Odesa
Nnamdi - Please Have A Seat
Wild Pink - ILYSM
Honourable mention to Plastic Mermaids; I’ve been listening to their new album loads so it feels like an October one, but actually came out 30th September.
gotta say i’m really surprised at the lack of love for Alvvays on here. Lots of great albums mentioned though, playing catch-up before I finalise my list
Angeline Morrison - Sorrow Songs: Folk Songs of the Black British Experience
TVAM - High Art Lite
A load of others that were close to the top 5: The Bobby Lees, Mabe Fratti, Loraine James, Scout Gillett, The Bug Club, Poster Paints, Rachael Dadd, La Feline, Liraz, Orielles, TSHA, Mathias Kom & Toby Goodshank, Jessica O’Donoghue.
Generally don’t include compilations in my album of the month reckonings but the Adrian Sherwood Dub No Frontiers album is great.
Over 50 replies already. Might have to do a early intial count up to spread out the time I’d otherwise spend on Sunday.
EDIT. Poorly worded paragraph there. I meant that I’ll begin to count what people have chosen already as there’s been quite a few replies. But the final count up will be as usual on Sunday midday-ish.
Not posted in one of these threads for awhile as I always lose track of which month albums are released in as I don’t stream stuff and like to pick new bits up on vinyl where possible which usually means there’s a time lag.
HOWEVER - felt like this month was quite a strong month so thought I’d get involved. Only to find…
Crap, didn’t know this was out
Also…
Nuts, also didn’t know this was out
Need to catch myself up. Going to do a top three and leave a placeholder for fourth/fifth in case I get round to listening to ^those two (other contenders are PVA and Rival Consoles)…
