Vote for your favourite five albums. Make your selections clear please as it makes tallying up the scores easier. If you list a whole bunch of albums without making your selections clear I’ll take the first five mentioned as 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th. No joint positions please. Sorry to be a pedant.
Your album of the month will get five points, 2nd placed album four points, 3rd placed album three points, 4th placed album two points and 5th one point. If you name only one album I’ll give that five points. If you name two albums I’ll score them with five and four points etc. You get the message.
My choices:
1. Touché Amoré - Spiral In A Straight Line
2. Amyl And The Sniffers - Cartoon Darkness
3. Half Waif - See You At The Maypole
4. The Linda Lindas - No Obligation
I’ve had the new Touché Amoré album and also their previous on repeat a hell of a lot this month. Amyl And The Sniffers is just great fun. My other two choices are good too.
Always a lot of great recommendations from you guys about albums that I’ve missed or overlooked. Not sure what’s out tomorrow. I’ll see what you guys are listening to.
Please forgive any shameless bumps of this thread during the week. I’ll keep this thread open until Sunday 3rd November and so you’ll have over a week to listen to tomorrow’s releases if there’s anything out before choosing.
Vote now!! (Or later in the week) but make your choices clear please.
The DiS Committee has decided that no new music will be released on Friday 25 October so that us brave posters have at least more than a cat in hell’s chance of deciding our albums of the month by Sunday 3 November at midday.
Please push your releases back a bit. maybe space them out a bit more, eh? Blame those bastard artists who snuck out their albums over the past three Fridays. Bastards.
A Place To Bury Strangers - Synthesizer
Forgetting You Is Like Breathing Water - S/T
Godspeed You! Black Emperor - “NO TITLE AS OF FEBRUARY 13 2024 28,340 DEAD”
Karl D’Silva - Love Is A Flame In The Dark
Midland - Fragments Of Us
1: Fergus Jones - Ephermea
2: Jabu - A Soft & Gatherable Star
3: Lechuga Zafiro - Desde Los Oidos De Un Sapo
4: Two Shell - Two Shell
5: Moin - You Never End
Ludicrous to have to leave out DJ Lycox (suffered from being the third amazing Principe release this year. But is utterly amazing), Midland (beautiful, uncomfortable, amazingly produced) & Hearts and Minds (kinda low key house, really quite cool). Tyler sounding great, but not sure yet if I’m that into it….
Anyway, those five are super interesting in their own ways.
1.The Smile - Cutouts
2.GY!BE - No Title As Of 13 February 2024, 28340 Dead
3 Porridge Radio - Clouds In The Sky They Will Always Be There For Me
4.The Hard Quartet - The Hard Quartet
5.Laura Marling - Patterns In Repeat
No Chat Pile in there, just doesn’t have the wow factor I got from the debut, I do think I need to listen more and I will do when I’m in the right frame of mind!
Enjoyed Pixies more than I thought I would. Definitely listened to this more than any since the first album of post reform stuff.
Also enjoying :
Touché Amore
Amyl And The Sniffers
Soccer Mommy
Corker
Clearwater Swimmers
Can’t remember who recommend the Fred Thomas Album but it’s really stuck with me. Long songs in a vaguely Bill Callahan mode but really varied and powerful. Oliver Coates is a really good ambient album that has a lot going on and I enjoy the more I listen to it. Confidence Man is just fun.
Need to dig into GY!BE The Smile more and all the others in this thread
