DiS Users' September 2022 Album Of The Month - THE RESULTS

VOTE FOR YOUR TOP FIVE ALBUMS!!

Vote for your favourite five albums. Make your selections clear please as it makes tallying up the scores easier. If you list a whole bunch of albums without making your selections clear I’ll take the first five mentioned as 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th. No joint positions please. Sorry to be a pedant.

Your album of the month will get five points, 2nd placed album four points, 3rd placed album three points, 4th placed album two points and 5th one point. If you name only one album I’ll give that five points. If you name two albums I’ll score them with five and four points etc. You get the message.

My choices:

1. Suede - Autofiction

2. Sudan Archives - Natural Brown Prom Queen

3. Rina Sawayama - Hold The Girl

4. Jockstrap - I Love You Jennifer B

5. Beth Orton - Weather Alive

A great month for me with the top three all being at least 8/10 for me.

Suede nearly 30 years after their debut still manage to produce albums that are damn strong. Night Thoughts is perhaps their best since their return and the new one isn’t too far behind that.

The Sudan Archives album is brilliant. Some stunning tracks on it and the whole album and track listing works really well.

Big pop bangers on the new Rina Sawayama album. Her song Hurricanes is just brilliant pop.

Enjoyed the Jockstrap album and Beth Orton’s although it’s a bit too samey and you have to be in a certain mood to listen to it all the way through. New album by Yeah Yeah Yeahs is out tomorrow but not sure whatelse is.

Always a lot of great recommendations from you guys about albums that I’ve missed or overlooked.

Please forgive any shameless bumps of this thread during the week. I’ll keep this thread open until Sunday 9th October (seems a long way away) and so you’ll have over a week to listen to tomorrow’s releases before choosing.

Vote now!! (Or later in the week) but make your choices clear please.

Will likely change after release day tomorrow, but to start with

  1. All Structures Align - Distance and Departure
  2. Alex G - God Save the Animals
  3. Junior Brother - The Great Irish Famine
  4. Enablers - Some Gift
  5. Sonnyjim - White Girl Wasted

my most white guitar men list in a long time

Three albums being released tomorrow that might still bother my selections from what has been a ridiculous month for good releases, no idea how I’ll reduce it to a list of five!
