Good to see that as ever I have my finger on the DiS pulse with no one else liking any of my top three
Would highly recommend the Stealing Sheep album for anyone that likes off kilter electro pop with three part harmonies - which is everyone right? The Gans album is right in your face - I know that there’s a bit of fatigue with two piece shouty bands, but these guys are the best to do it in awhile. 65days return with more of their cinematic stuff. CLB is now several albums into a very consistent career. Only had a short time to listen to the Wednesday album, but suspect it will be a grower for me…
TGAAZ I found on Boomkat. Amongst other comparisons, it mentioned sounding like Madlibs jazz stuff, so that made me sit up and wanna listen. I really liked it, reckon you may dig it.
Rauw is pretty good too. Definitely keeping with the more traditional Latin vibes from his previous album.
The closest I get to someone rating one of the 4 albums I’ll be ranking is @rich-t planning on listening to it later this week… after he’s got through 6 others.
Sky Girl hushed melancholy, 90s Scandinavian indie melodies, wonky electronics and surprise breaks. Should maybe be terrible but it’s great. Good find, thanks!
It’s proper addictive, but I find it difficult to explain why. Ideas are all over the place and pretty unconfined but it actually hangs together into some decent tunes. Fun.
Kieran Hebden & William Tyler, David Byrne, Chip Wickham, Josh Ritter, Verse GT, Mulatu Astatke, Langendorf United, Boo Boos
EDIT - Spaffed my musical picks to soon this month. Dropping the Four Tet lad & Willy T to the under bubbles. Added Small Forward to the number 5 slot.
