Shallowater - God’s Gonna Give You a Million Dollars
Big Thief - Double Infinity
Nyxy Nyx seems pretty good too.
The first half of the Die Spitz album is up there with my favorites of the year. While not quite the same, it has that Burning Brides spirit in there. It’s thunderous.

Fun fact: Ian Dury’s Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick was the first song I ever remember hearing on the radio. His son Baxter’s Allbarone is fantastic, lyrically obviously but the mashup of electro, post-punk and disco works so well too. The title track, Schadenfreude, Hapsburg and Return of the Sharp Heads all make me stop to listen.
Saint Etienne’s swansong is genuinely one of their best albums. I’ve been a fan since the start and thought I might be overrating this because it’s their last, but it’s stood up over the month. After a couple of albums of fairly low-key dabbling with ambient pop, the big tunes are back and so are the snippets between tunes.

Checked out Wednesday based on this and was very impressed. The more mellower tracks passed me by a little as I don’t like country/americana/whatever it’s called. But when they get heavier? Ooof. Good shit.
Have tried various ways of cataloguing highlights from albums throughout the year, didn’t keep up the monthly playlist as had opted instead to create genre-specific playlists instead, but I feel behind with them by April.
Here’s a playlist for September to get me back on track. The Ciśnienie album isn’t on Spotify but Mariah Carey’s album just missed a place on that list so she makes it in as a reserve.
think this is the only mention i can see of Snuggle on the whole boards, just stumbled onto them because of the stupid algo being accurate and instantly a fan. Perfect early Soccer Mommy/Jay Som vibes
