  1. British Sea Power - Let The Dancers Inherit The Party
  2. Bent Knee- Land Animal
  3. Run The Jewels - RTJ3
  4. Alison Crutchfield - Tourist In This Town
  5. Austra - Future Politics

  7. Japandroids - NTTWHOL
  8. Richard Dawson - Peasant

this is a pretty underwhelming list, tbh. I like the following, but they’re not favorites:

  1. Bent Knee - Land Animal
  2. Slowdive
  3. Grails - Chalice hymnal
  4. Jane weaver - Modern Kosmology
  5. Moon Duo - Occult Architecture I

#44

Just a top 5 for me:

Mount Eerie - A Crow Looked At Me
Arca - Arca
Actress - AZD
Forest Swords - Compassion
GAS - Narkopop

#45

It’s Kendrick and Mount Eerie
Nothing else counts
Hoping for a good Ariel Pink record before Christmas but that’s my year tbh
I tell a lie, FJM did a good one too, but just behind the rest.

#46
  1. Julie Byrne - Not Even Happiness
  2. Kendrick Lamar - DAMN
  3. Big Thief - Capacity
  4. Allison Crutchfield - Tourist In This Town
  5. Pissed Jeans - Why Love Now
  6. Kelly Lee Owen - S/T
  7. Idles - Brutalism
  8. Slowdive - Slowdive
  9. Kevin Morby - City Music
  10. Moon Diagrams - Lifetime Of Love

Seconding mentions for albums by Thundercat, Priests and Sacred Paws that don’t appear on this list. Also really loved The Feelies ‘In Between’, Tim Darcy’s ‘Saturday Night’, Ulrika Spacek ‘Modern English Decoration’, Homeshake ‘Fresh Air’ records. And preferred Flying Microtonal Banana to Murder of The Universe from the King Gizzard releases.

Still need to check a fair few from that list.

#47
  1. Cloud Nothings - Life Without Sound
  2. Run the Jewels - RTJ3
  3. Grandaddy - Last Place
  4. Kendrick Lamar - DAMN
  5. Austra - Future Politics
  6. Spoon - Hot Thoughts
  7. The XX - I See You
  8. Japandroids - NTTWOL
  9. Sampha - Process
  10. Perfume Genius - No Shape

Not been on new music this year as much as in previous years, and I’m not sure any of these would crack my top 50 albums of the decade, but they’re 10 very good albums nonetheless. A couple of others (e.g. Arca, Jesca Hoop, Vince Staples, Mac DeMarco) were very strong but just missed out, so it’s still been a pretty good year so far!

As always, thanks for taking the time to do this. Not sure why people are getting pissy about the format - it’s just a bit of fun! :slightly_smiling_face:

#48

From the list

  1. Kendrick Lamar
  2. Arca
  3. Mount Eerie
  4. Richard Dawson
  5. Vince Staples
  6. Kelly Lee Owens
  7. Aldous Harding
  8. Spoon
  9. Jens Lekman
  10. Spoon

Non list albums:

  1. Migos - Culture
  2. Colin Stetson - All This I Do For Glory
  3. Dirty Projectors - Dirty Projectors
  4. Mark Eitzel - Hey Mr Ferryman
  5. Sleaford Mods - English Tapas
  6. Priests - Nothing Feels Natural

I actually prefer most of those non-list albums to all but my top 5 from the list. Maybe DIS and I are drifting apart.

#49

Just listening to Dirty Projectors for the first time in a couple of months and ran back to this thread terrified that I’d accidentally forgot to add it in. Now I know why.

Really surprised that it didn’t make it into the top-10 of whatever month it was in. Same with Priests - they’re both brilliant. But that’s part of the fun of this thread format

#50

Two cracking records. And that Colin Stetson album is amazing if you’ve not heard it.

#51

In descending order from 1-10

Mount Eerie - A Crow Looked at Me
Slowdive - Slowdive
Arca - Arca
Blanck Mass - World Eater
Future Islands - The Far Field
Julie Byrne - Not Even Happiness
Big Thief - Capacity
GAS - Narkopop
Perfume Genius - No Shape
Kendrick Lamar - Damn

#52

All of my favourites are there… I’ve been DiSencitised

#53

Thanks for doing this BMS1. A pretty good year, so far. From the AOTM threads, here are my top 9 (the order might change daily, especially the top 4, but right now is something like this):

  1. Kelly Lee Owens - S/T
  2. Julie Byrne - Not Eve Happiness
  3. Jesca Hoop - Memories Are Now
  4. Aldous Harding - Party
  5. Laura Marling - Semper Femina
  6. Ty Seagall - S/T
  7. The XX - I See You
  8. Sampha - Process
  9. Elbow - Little Fictions

And my favourite album of the year that (just) did not make the list: Juana Molina - Halo. One more point back in May, and I’d have my tenth album on the list. Not to be.
