So I’ve been going to End of the Road since 2008 and there’s denying that the “magic” has dissipated as the festival has grown. But that said, the artists they can now attract with the increased capacity is a massive bonus. It is still my favourite festival and I count down the days until that first announcement is made as it generally shapes a lot of my listening for the rest of the year. I am definitely still a happy camper.
I haven’t done any other “camping” festivals since the Dirty 3 ATP, just the one-dayers in and around London generally. It was my first Field Day last year, and I loved that. Others tend to be your big behemoths like BST and Wireless. Not a great deal to recommend there.
I think ShoeboxBury would be a pretty eclectic mix, wouldn’t really fit a theme and I’d like to shape it around bands who I have never got to see live, whether they would be current or extinct. So I’d have REM, Fugazi, Tom Waits, Tears For Fears, Wu Tang Clan, Cannibal Ox, Daft Punk, Silver Jews, Pinback, for a start. I can imagine it would be a pretty expensive festival
