His stand up shows were so inventive and amazing and it’s a bit sad that the Taskmaster success (and Horne Section as well) mean he doesn’t do them any more.

He once shot an arrow off my head through a toilet seat suspended above the stage.

What! That sounds fun.

I love him so much. Seems like a top fella too. His books are pretty entertaining and all.

The show was the construction of a giant Rube Goldberg machine on-stage with stand-up going on around it. So fucking great.

He did another one where he took those “the average person spends 15 years of their life in the bath!” or whatever and then did all those things to an equivalent percentage of an hour. Brilliant.

It’s Armando Iannucci (and Chris Addison, I think Simon Blackwell’s involved – a lot of the same team), and very similar to The Thick Of It.

The Thick Of It, whilst one of my absolutely favourite programmes of all time, probably doesn’t translate to an American audience as well as I’d like. VEEP manages to ‘American’ it up, but not in a shit way. Very funny.

Saw him do stand up last month. Was a “for kids” show, which meant it was exactly the same - totally great of course.
