Divorce (the band from Nottingham)

I am loving this album! Is anyone else loving this album?

A lot of different inspirations in there that I can’t really describe. Maybe a hodge podge of early 2000s indie? All feels cohesive though

Didn’t see what forum this was in when I clicked; was braced to read a very different post

i was gonna start this thread!

yeah didn’t click the first few times but on 3rd listen fell for it quite hard, and been playing it a lot since. The two voices work really well together but her’s especially is pretty amazing at moments. Get a little bit of mid-period St Vincent from the tracks she leads, a little bit of glam strut

lovely Wilco reference on the last song too

also sold out most of their tour even with the album just being out a few weeks - good effort! Wonder if they were big on 6 Music or something and just passed me by

Yes it’s great! Think there’s a Big Thief influence in places. Nice to see a local Nottingham band release such a great debut album and they are nice people too. Think lots on this board will like it.

Really loving this album. Between this, the forthcoming Brown Horse album and The Tubs record from the other week there’s a good bunch of earnest folky/alt-country-ish records that are just smashing it at the moment.

Seem to be on r2 a lot or maybe its just on jo whiley

The genius of this only really hit me today. It had had a few listens since its release but hadn’t gone past ‘interesting’ and ‘promising’ but for some reason today it completely clicked. Maybe partly because the second half is stronger (although it is all pretty damn great).

Looking forward to spending more time with it.
