Apologies for jumping 200 posts here, but I’m just going to cross my fingers and hope the intervening ones aren’t people carving lumps out of each other.

Quite a few years ago we went to see a recording of Omid Djalili’s TV show. He was very excited that he had a TV show. We were subjected to a few minutes from his warm-up man, who appeared to be a borderline psychopath, who got us all nice and anxious before the main event. Then Omid came on and delivered a series of sketches all of which were the same quality as that Welsh joke. Then he had a tantrum at us. I think his exact words were “this is some funny shit!”. Surprisingly that gambit didn’t pay off. Then we sat through some more of it and went home. Was suprised to see that eventually the series actually got broadcast, but not for a while and presumably after some reshoots.

So yes he isn’t a very good comedian.
